Yea, I am going to read "The Bridge at Andau" when I get a copy. The events in that book are based on eye witness events since Michener was a journalist. Wasn't the Hungarian revolt the first time any Eastern European country stood up to the Soviets?Nathannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188521836105870276.post-46273421219874656972013-12-02T21:34:03.960-08:002013-12-02T21:34:03.960-08:00Thank you so much! Have you ever studied Latin? I know from reading your posts that you love languages, I am hoping that with a Latin foundation my children will understand English better and be able to pick up the Romance languages easier when the are older, if the Lord tarries.

I like what you say about using the modern translation, it makes so much sense, and it is just like bible colleges to try and make it harder for people to speak Greek, like you say no one is around from the ancient days to say exactly how it was pronounced, but it wasn't a dead language like Hebrew, so I'm sure it sounds very close to what they still speak in Greece.

In Him,
Shelly A.

Shellynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188521836105870276.post-20665065647666053932013-12-02T21:03:08.358-08:002013-12-02T21:03:08.358-08:00Thanks for the comment, Nathan! The Gulag Archipel...Thanks for the comment, Nathan! The Gulag Archipelago is a great book. It may even be the most important work of non-fiction of the 20th century. I have read it cover-to-cover twice, but my favorite parts of it I have read as many as ten times. "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich is also a great book.

If you like The Gulag Archipelago, you should read "The Bridge at Andau" by James Michener. It is much shorter, easier to read, faster moving than Gulag, but it is a super good book that contains a lot of the same info, but with an emphasis on communist Hungary. Once you pick it up, it's hard to put down. Every time I see it at a used book store, I buy it, and I have given away at least 10 copies of it to my friends. Only one returned it to me. The rest loved it.

God bless,
Pastor Andersonsanderson1611https://www.blogger.com/profile/03716198677406946806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1188521836105870276.post-84708300195671376892013-12-02T20:51:01.986-08:002013-12-02T20:51:01.986-08:00Hey sir,

If you haven't you should also read "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich". Awesome. Some people think that fundamentalists are anti-intellectual and stupid. Obviously we are not. I am glad that you have a shot out to TBS, they are a KJV only group that only prints and sells KJV Bibles. Nathannoreply@blogger.com
