We believe that men should wear pants, and that women should wear skirts or dresses. </p><p>The Bible teaches throughout both Old and New Testaments that there are profound differences between men and women, and that there should also be a distinction in their outward appearance. When God created the first human beings, he made them male and female, and their respective roles are established in the book of Genesis. Later in the Pentateuch, his command for them to wear gender specific clothing is made explicit. </p><p>“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.” - Deuteronomy 22:5</p><p>Throughout the Mosaic law, there are four specific references to pants (the King James Bible uses the term “breeches”), and they all are referring to mens’ clothing. Virtually everyone agrees that skirts and dresses are women’s clothing. If a man were to put on a dress or skirt, he would be considered to be “in drag” and in clear violation of Deuteronomy 22:5. Since the verse also mentions women not wearing that which pertains to a man, it stands to reason that there must exist some article of clothing that pertains to a man. Pants fit that bill, and even as recently as the 20th century in the United States, women were not allowed to wear pants in public, and girls were not allowed to wear pants to school. </p><p>Clearly there are differences between the Old Testament and the New Testament, but God’s desire for men and women to have distinctly different appearances is not one of them. Evidence of this is found in Paul’s first epistle to the Corinthians, where he teaches that men are to wear their hair short, while women are to wear their hair long. </p><p>“Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.” - 1 Corinthians 11:14-15</p><p>Although our society has changed dramatically and continues to change as it becomes further dechristianized, we believe that it is important to maintain these boundaries between the genders. One of these is Darwinian evolutionary theory, which claims that most modern species arose by a combination of chance variation and natural selection operating over a long time. This theory typically goes even further, claiming that every plant and animal in existence has come from a single common ancestor. The other theory is creationism, which teaches that God brought into being “the basic kinds of plants and animals by the process of a sudden, or fiat, creation.” (Weiner 8) Lest one should be tempted to say that creationism is not mainstream, it should be remembered that “nearly half the citizens of the United States do not believe in evolution. Instead they believe that life was created by God in something like its present form, within the past ten thousand years.” (297) This paper will examine the belief worthiness of these two dramatically different theories in light of the philosophies laid down by philosopher of science Larry Laudan. Using Laudan’s influential book Progress and its Problems, in addition to the Pulitzer Prize award winning book on evolution The Beak of the Finch, this paper will demonstrate that creationism is worthy of our belief, and that chance variation and natural selection could not have created the assortment of life that exists on this planet today. </p><p><br /> According to Laudan, “The first and essential acid test for any theory is whether it provides acceptable answers to interesting questions: whether, in other words, it provides satisfactory solutions to important problems.” (Laudan 13) When thinking about biology and the origin of various plants and animals, a few very important questions come to mind. What is life? Where did life come from? How did the first living thing come into existence? Has life ever come from something non-living? These important questions are not addressed by Darwinian evolutionary theory whatsoever. Over 150 years after The Origin of the Species was first published, no significant progress has been made in answering these questions. Biologists lament that they don’t even have a coherent theory of what life is, let alone where it came from. There is not even a detailed hypothesis, let alone theory, for how life came into existence by natural means from non-living material. Virtually every biology textbook starts out by saying that only life can beget life, and that living things cannot come from non-living material. They then proceed to wildly speculate about how the first living thing spontaneously came into existence, without a shred of evidence of this ever taking place anywhere in the universe at any time. Countless observations show us that life cannot come from non-life, and not a single contradictory instance has ever been observed. Nevertheless, many scientists still believe that life came into existence on Earth spontaneously from non-living material, the evidence notwithstanding. The theory of evolution does absolutely nothing to answer these important questions, but yet it is put forth as an alternative to creation, which actually does answer the questions about the origin of life. </p><p><br /> Laudan further states, “In appraising the merits of theories, it is more important to ask whether they constitute adequate solutions to significant problems than it is to ask whether they are ‘true,’ ‘corroborated,’ ‘well-confirmed,’ or otherwise justifiable within the framework of contemporary epistemology.” (14) Darwinian evolutionary theory bypasses the most significant questions about the origins of the species and jumps right into seeking an explanation for variation in plants and animals over time. The fact that animals change over time is beyond question. Natural selection is certainly taking place in the wild and has been well documented. However, it is a logical leap to go from these well-established phenomena to the idea that every last organism on this planet came from a single common ancestor, which spontaneously arose from non-living material and grew ever more complex through Darwinian processes. Evolution fails to solve the most significant problems with this worldview and instead quibbles about the length of a bird’s beak. </p><p><br /> This brings us to the discussion of The Beak of the Finch, a popular book that claims we can observe evolution taking place “directly, in real time.” (Weiner 8) This claim is absurd in light of the fact that Darwinian evolutionary theory purports that the rise of species comes about by a combination of chance variation and natural selection. The book uses observations of natural selection and speciation among finches on the Galápagos Islands as evidence and boldly states, “The idea that organisms evolve was transformed during the last century from conjecture to fact.” (267) The problem with this logic is that the changes taking places in the finches on the Galápagos are not due to chance variation. If they are supposedly due to chance variations, then why are they so incredibly predictable? The book gives many examples of the scientists predicting exactly which way and to what degree the changes would go and even says that “it would take about twenty selection events as intense as the drought of 1977 to turn a fortis into a magnirostris.” (271) How could such a calculation be made if the variations were random? There are plenty of examples of dog breeders who use artificial selection to create either standard poodles that weigh 45-70 pounds, or to create teacup poodles that weigh about 5 pounds and can fit in the palm of your hand. However, “there are fixed limits beyond which the descendants from common parents can never deviate from a certain type.” (26) According to the logic found in The Beak of the Finch, we should be able to breed dogs the size of houses by continuing to breed larger and larger dogs with one another. By also picking the reddest dogs, how long would it take to produce Clifford the Big Red Dog? This is ridiculous because the genetic variations that make either dogs or finches get larger or smaller are not chance variations, which is why there is an upper and lower limit on the sizes of dogs and finches. What is being observed on the Galápagos is no more “evolution” than a dog breeder making larger and smaller poodles is “evolution.” At the end of the day, a bird is a bird, and a dog is a dog, and they will never produce anything other than their own kind as offspring.</p><p><br /> The fact that every plant or animal produces the same kind of plant or animal as offspring presents a problem for the theory of evolution, but it presents no problem whatsoever for Biblical creationism since Genesis 1 repeatedly teaches that everything brings forth “after its own kind.” According to Laudan, “whenever an empirical problem has been solved by any theory, then thereafter [it] constitutes an anomaly for every theory in the relevant domain which does not also solve [it].” (Laudan 29) Creationism solves the problem of the origin of life and also explains why all animals can only produce their own kind. Both of these problems are anomalies for the theory of evolution. Evolutionists have plenty of evidence for one species evolving into another species, but what they cannot demonstrate or observe is one kind of animal evolving into another kind. In the Origin of the Species, Darwin writes, “I look at the term species as one arbitrarily given for the sake of convenience to a set of individuals closely resembling each other.” (Weiner 165) Just because someone arbitrarily decides that two animals are different “species,” that does not prevent them from being the same “kind” of animal. Even though there are 13 “species” of finches on the Galápagos, “Darwin’s finches can interbreed and produce fertile young.” (159) They are all the same kind of animal. “There is no difference between the largest fortis and the smallest magnirostris.” (240) “Evolving” from one “species” of animal to another does absolutely nothing to solve the problem of where the various “kinds” of animals come from since all available evidence demonstrates animals bringing forth after their own kind. Every finch on the Galápagos brings forth after its own kind. The same goes for other species of animals that are supposedly evolving. “Of the 161 species of ducks and geese in the world, 67 species have been known to hybridize…almost one out of every two species of ducks and geese has been seen to interbreed in the wild. The actual incidence is likely to be much higher.” (198) Therefore, a change from one species of duck to another does not constitute evidence for evolution from one kind to another since all of these species are clearly the same kind of animal, which is why they can mate with one another and produce offspring.</p><p><br /> The fact that evolutionary theory defines human beings as animals, and then proceeds to arbitrarily divide animals into species based solely on their appearances and breeding habits, presents a major conceptual problem for evolution. In Laudan’s chapter on conceptual problems, he talks about “seemingly serious arguments [being] lodged against a scientific theory because of moral or ethical worldview difficulties.” (Laudan 63) He goes on to mention that “there is a prominent group of thinkers in contemporary science and philosophy who have argued that worldview difficulties are only pseudo-problems.” (63) Laudan on the other hand makes a strong case in his book that “a conceptual problem will, in general, be a more serious one than an empirical anomaly.” (64) Conceptual problems should not be brushed aside or ignored. They should always be taken into consideration when examining the belief worthiness of a theory, and they typically have been given important consideration throughout the history of science. The moral and ethical problems generated by Darwinian evolutionary theory are one of the reasons why it should be abandoned.</p><p><br /> Consider the fact that animals are often assigned different species based on their color. “Tryoni has some bright yellow markings, whereas neohumeralis is plain dull brown.” (Weiner 195) Since evolutionists consider human beings to be animals, do human beings of dramatically different colors represent different species? According to the Bible, God has “made of one blood all nations of men” (Acts 17:26), and “there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek.” (Romans 10:12). However, if we apply the logic of evolutionary biology to mankind, we must conclude that human beings represent multiple species since “man varies from man more than animal from animal of different species.” (Weiner 288) The other thing that evolutionists use to divide one species from another, aside from appearance, is “sexual isolation and the maintenance of their separate identities in nature.” Yet the caveat is always that “every once in a while, a pair of them gets together anyway.” (195) Take for instance the nation of Japan which for hundreds of years maintained a very separate identity and rarely intermarried with other nations. Given their distinct appearance and sexual isolation, do they represent a different species than, for example, sub-Saharan Africans? The creationist would say, “Absolutely not,” but if we follow the reasoning of evolutionary theory to its logical conclusion, we are forced to divide human beings into multiple species at various stages of evolution. This creates a huge moral and ethical problem for evolutionism that does not exist for creationism since creationism does not teach that human beings are animals. According to the creationist viewpoint, human beings are made in the image of God, they are all of one blood, and they are all equal in the sight of God.</p><p><br /> Another conceptual problem for evolution in the area of morality is that if we are nothing more than evolved animals, there can be no absolute standard for right and wrong. In the animal kingdom, there is nothing wrong with killing and stealing, and there is certainly no prohibition on adultery. If we are to believe that human beings are animals that arrived on this earth as a result of “chance variation” and natural selection, then the case can easily be made that our lives have absolutely no meaning. “Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die.” (1 Corinthians 15:32) Consider the implications of teaching children such a worldview that logically leads to a nihilistic outlook. This is a major reason why evolution should not be taught in public schools, K-12. It does not benefit society to teach children that they are evolved animals with no accountability to God. Teaching natural selection and variation within kinds of animals is good science and presents no conceptual problems with regard to mankind’s status above the animal kingdom. However, teaching unscientific and unproven ideas like abiogenesis and the common ancestry of all organisms on Earth provides no valid educational benefit and only promotes an atheistic worldview that undercuts Christian morality. Tax dollars should not be used to undermine religion and advance a philosophy where science replaces God. If people want to specialize in evolutionary theory as adults and delve into unproven subjects like “astrobiology” and abiogenesis, then they have the freedom to do so. Howbeit, Darwinian evolutionary theory should not be taught as a fact to children since it is not only false, but also creates an extreme worldview difficulty with regard to morality that could be especially damaging to children.</p><p><br /> Aside from the serious moral problems mentioned above, there is also a major theological conceptual problem created by the theory of evolution. Laudan says, “[A] conceptual problem arises when a particular scientific theory is seen to be incompatible with, or not mutually reinforcing for, some other body of accepted, but prima facie nonscientific, beliefs.” (Laudan 61) He goes on to mention theology as an example of such a body of beliefs. Since the Bible clearly teaches that plants and animals bring forth after their own kind, and that God created each of the basic kinds of animals in the beginning, Darwinian evolutionary theory contradicts both the teachings of the Bible and the teachings of evangelical Christianity. It is not worth discarding the Bible in order to embrace the teachings of evolution, which is why the vast majority of evangelical Christians embrace creationism and reject evolution. There are far more reasons to believe the Bible than there are to believe evolution (even if these reasons are not necessarily scientific reasons), which is why so many people, when given the choice, go with the Bible. This is another reason why evolution should not be taught in public schools. If approximately half of Americans don’t believe in evolution, why should they be forced to pay for the teaching of evolution to children when it goes against their own beliefs and values? The theological conceptual problem created by evolution is considerable and should be given serious consideration, both by our schools, and by individuals. </p><p><br /> According to Laudan, “The overall problem-solving effectiveness of a theory is determined by assessing the number and importance of the empirical problems which the theory solves and deducting therefrom the number and importance of the anomalies and conceptual problems which the theory generates.” (68) Evolutionary theory fails to solve important problems such as the origin of life and the origin of the first single-celled organisms. It fails to explain human consciousness and the profound metaphysical differences between human beings and animals. Meanwhile, it creates numerous serious anomalies and significant conceptual problems. This puts Darwinian evolutionary theory squarely in the negative when examined using Laudan’s formula.</p><p><br /> Not only is the problem-solving effectiveness of evolutionary theory lacking, but it has also failed to make sufficient progress over the last 160 or so years since the Origin of the Species was published. “Progress can occur if and only if the succession of scientific theories in any domain shows an increasing degree of problem-solving effectiveness.” (Laudan 68) Rather than improving its problem-solving effectiveness and reducing its conceptual problems and anomalies, evolution has done the reverse since it was introduced. Darwin said in the Origin of the Species, “If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed, which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down.” (Weiner 181) Since Darwin penned those words, it has been discovered that every cell in our bodies contains such “complex organs,” and there is to date no detailed theory or even hypothesis explaining how the extremely complex organelles of our cells came about, or how exceedingly complicated processes like cellular respiration came into existence “by numerous, successive, slight modifications” without a designer. Also, Darwin was writing before the discovery of DNA, which is an extremely complicated code, providing the blueprint for life as we know it. Today we know that even a single-celled organism is incredibly complicated, with complicated DNA, so the problem of where the first single-celled organism came from is a much bigger problem today than it was in Darwin’s day, when they were thought to be simple creatures.</p><p><br /> The Beak of the Finch presents a truly laughable straw man as an example of such a “complex organ” before which Darwin’s theory would “absolutely break down.” Instead of choosing the DNA of Amoeba Proteus with its 290 billion base pairs, or any number of other ultra-complex structures found at the cellular level of plants and animals, they chose the cross-billed beak. It is hard to imagine anyone actually considering that this is what Darwin had in mind. Again, Darwin said, “If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed, which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down.” (Weiner 181) A cross-billed beak is not complex whatsoever, but there are plenty of other things at the molecular level that are more complex than anything Darwin could have even imagined. Yet this does not stop the author of the Beak of the Finch from making the absurd statement that the crossbill “would be the kind of problem before which Darwin felt his theory would ‘absolutely break down.’” (184) In reality, the complicated nature of cellular biology, DNA, and many other such discoveries made after Darwin’s death present major problems for evolutionary theory, which are increasing, rather than decreasing with time. This represents the opposite of progress for the theory of evolution. </p><p><br /> In the final analysis, creationism solves more important and significant problems than Darwinian evolutionary theory and creates less anomalies and conceptual problems in the process, so by Laudan’s logic, it is more worthy of our belief. However, I personally believe along with many other creationists that “neither evolution nor creation can be tested as a scientific theory, so believers in evolution or creation must accept either view by faith.” (8) At the end of the day, neither evolution nor creation can be empirically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, and much of the evidence is open to interpretation. Creationism really comes down to believing the Bible, and evolution comes down to seeking an explanation for where we came from that excludes God. People will ultimately believe what they want to believe, but there is of course an absolute truth. To those of us who believe the Bible, creation is not just a “theory” or a “research tradition.” It is absolute truth simply because the Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) <br /><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;">Works Cited </p><p>Laudan, L. are people, too. Animal radio!” So goes the jingle on XM’s <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Animal Radio</i> station, and they are not the only ones making this
outrageous claim. Billboards all over Arizona say, “Animals are children, too.
Love them. Don’t abandon them.” More and more, our culture in America is
elevating animals to the level of human beings. You can go to the grocery store
today and find greeting cards to send to your pets. As if that were not weird
enough, you can also buy greeting cards <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">from</i>
your pets <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">to</i> you! At a frozen yogurt
shop in Fountain Hills, AZ, they had an entire assortment of frozen yogurt
options for your dog or cat with flavors like “sardines” and “salmon.” Because
animals are being so anthropomorphized, many people today are even calling for
animals to have rights and liberties, or even to be declared as legal persons.
This view is problematic at best and blasphemous at worst. Animals do not have
consciousness or an eternal soul and therefore are not entitled to the same
rights and freedoms as human beings. </span><br />

<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "times new roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>With 2.3
billion professing Christians worldwide, the Bible is the most influential book
on philosophy and morality in the history of mankind, and it has a lot to say
about animals. For those of us who believe it is the word of God, it is the
final authority. In the Bible, there is a great distinction made between
animals and humans. After God created all the animals in Genesis 1, he said,
“Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle,
and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the
earth.” Unlike the animals, man is made in the image of God, and has been given
dominion (lordship) over the animals on this planet.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%;">
<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "times new roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>Throughout
the Bible God kills animals indiscriminately and does not assign their lives
the same value he assigns to humans. For example, in Genesis 6, when God is
grieved by the sins of mankind, he decides to wipe out the world with a global
flood that kills almost all the animals, even though the animals themselves had
done nothing wrong. In Leviticus, he institutes a mandatory program of animal
sacrifice that involves killing and butchering a multitude of creatures. In the
Gospel of Mark, Jesus sends 2,000 pigs sailing off a cliff to drown in the sea
in order to save one person (Mark 5:1-17). Finally, in the book of Revelation,
God pours out his wrath on this earth once again, killing a tremendous number
of animals.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%;">
<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "times new roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>Despite
this overwhelming evidence from scripture, some would object to this view that
God doesn’t seem to care about the lives of animals by pointing to Bible verses
that would seem to indicate that he does. For example, in the book of
Deuteronomy, there are laws protecting animals and wildlife, such as the
admonition “not to muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn” (Deuteronomy 25:4)
or the command not to kill the mother bird if you find a nest containing eggs
or young birds (Deuteronomy 22:6). There is also the statement in Proverbs that
“a righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the
wicked are cruel.” (Proverbs 12:10). Another example is the famous statement by
Jesus about sparrows when he said, “Are not five </span>sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?”
(Luke 12:6)</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%;">
<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "times new roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>However,
upon closer examination, we see that none of these verses is actually teaching
that God cares about animals. In fact, this question is specifically addressed
in 1 Corinthians 9 9: “For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not
muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for
oxen? Or saith he <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">it</i> altogether for
our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">this</i>
is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that
thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.” Notice that the question is
asked, “Does God care about oxen?” The answer is that this was not said for the
sake of the oxen, but that there is “no doubt” that it said 100% (“altogether”)
for our sakes. It was not written to protect oxen whatsoever. Also, when we
examine the context of the bird’s nest command, we find that the reason given
for keeping the mother alive is “that it may be well with thee, and <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">that</i> thou mayest prolong <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">thy</i> days.” Similarly, when Christ gave
the illustration about the sparrows, he followed it up with, “Fear ye not therefore, ye are of
more value than many ,” showing his regard for humans, not sparrows.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%;">
<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "times new roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>In addition
to the biblical argument, there are also many practical arguments against
considering animals as persons or giving them the rights and freedoms that
people enjoy. In 2014, a lawsuit was filed by the Nonhuman Rights Project suing
for the freedom of a chimpanzee. The same organization had also tried to win
legal rights for apes, elephants, dolphins, and whales. The court ruled
unanimously that since chimpanzees are not legal persons, they are not entitled
to freedom. The Nonhuman Rights Project claimed that since chimpanzees exhibit
highly complex cognitive functions, they should be considered persons and
accorded similar rights. They essentially sought to redefine the legal
definition of a “person.” One problem with declaring chimpanzees to be
“persons” is that Chimpanzees have no concept of right and wrong or morality,
and so nothing would stop them from killing, stealing from, or harming others.
Since chimpanzees are not capable of fulfilling societal responsibilities, and
since they are not held accountable when they break the rules of civilized
society, declaring them to be “persons” is very problematic. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%;">
<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "times new roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>Advocates
of granting personhood to animals believe that animals are sentient beings with
conscious feelings. In fact, the vast majority of people who
don’t believe in giving personhood to animals also hold this view of animal
sentience. However, there is an alternative view that should be considered,
which was famously put forth by French philosopher and scientist René Descartes
in the 17th century. Descartes argued that an animal is like a “machine” or an
automaton. He acknowledged that animals have sensations and
emotions, but he argued that their emotions are just a result of the way they
are “programmed” to feel. In that sense, they are similar to “machines,” or as
we would put it today, they are like robots or artificial intelligences. They
are simply the products of their inherited instincts and biology and not the
possessors of eternal souls or spirits. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; text-indent: 0.5in;">
<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "times new roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">For those who argue for animal
consciousness, the question of which animals are conscious must be answered.
Where do we draw the line? Are snails and roaches sentient, or only whales and
chimpanzees? Is the distinction between mammals and non-mammals? Is the
distinction between warm-blooded and cold-blooded animals? From a biblical
perspective, the line is drawn between humans and animals, but from an animal
rights perspective, some other line must be drawn. Animal Welfare Acts passed
in the United States do not protect all animals. They exclude mice, rats,
birds, cold-blooded animals, and many others. There must be some
authority by which the decision is made as to which animals are conscious and
which are not. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; text-indent: 0.5in;">
<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "times new roman", serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">Another issue with granting
personhood to animals is the question of whether it is ethical to harm animals
for the benefit of people. If someone truly believes that animals have equal
value to humans, then logically they would not be able to justify eating animal
meat or wearing animal based textiles. Not only that, but if they truly believe
that “meat is murder,” they would have to make it against the law for <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">anyone</i> to eat meat. Medical studies and
testing done on animals also come into question. People for the Ethical
Treatment of Animals argue
that many animal tests are not required by law and even provide false or
misleading data about the effects of products on humans. They believe that
animal testing is immoral, a waste of money, and not beneficial to humans in
any way. Those in favor of animal testing have cited vaccines against
Typhus, yellow fever, and polio, as medical advances that would have been impossible
without the use of animal testing. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; text-indent: 0.5in;">
Whether
or not we believe in the personhood of animals makes a big difference in our
everyday lives. It impacts our diet, our clothing choices, our medical choices,
and the way that we view our pets and the pets of others. Whatever the
conclusion we come to, it will have a profound effect on our life decisions if
we actually think these things through and are consistent in the application of
our beliefs. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 200%; text-indent: 0.5in;">
While
my belief that animals are not on the level of people affects the way I live my
life, it does not mean that I mistreat or am cruel to animals. I believe that
we should treat animals humanely for our own sakes, not for the sake of the
animal. Being cruel to animals is harmful to the person carrying out the
cruelty. If a person enjoys hurting animals, it is likely that they lack normal
human empathy. People who torture animals are sometimes even disturbed
individuals who will later graduate to harming humans. Even though animals are
not people and are not eternal, they are here on this earth for our benefit and
enjoyment, and we would do well for ourselves to treat them humanely and
decently. As scripture says, “A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast:

For almost a week I had only slept about three hours per night because the pain was so intense. I had not even taken a Tylenol in over a decade, but now I was cycling maximum doses of Advil, Tylenol, and Oxycodone. It wasn’t enough. At times the pain became so intense that I writhed in agony on my bed and beat my fists against the wall just trying to get through the minutes and make it to the next dose of painkiller, which only slightly took the edge off. Dry socket is one of the most painful things imaginable.<br />
<br />
Like most people, I have gone through many painful experiences in my life. When I was five years old, I broke my pinky riding an ATC. When I was twelve, I broke my collar bone riding a dirt bike. As an adult, I once stepped on a nail at a construction site, and it went all the way through my foot and poked out the top. As an electrician, I have been shocked by 110, 220, and 277 volts. I have even been tasered by the police for 22 seconds straight at 50,000 volts. None of these things even came close to the pain I experienced due to dry socket.<br />
<br />
Dry socket, also known as alveolar osteitis, is a condition that can sometimes happen after an adult tooth is extracted. In my case, it was one of my wisdom teeth. The condition involves the blood clot at the extraction site coming loose and exposing the raw bone and nerve endings beneath. The pain then radiates through that whole side of your face, head, and neck, and turns each nerve ending into a cruel implement of torture.<br />
<br />
When I went to the dentist to have my wisdom teeth extracted, although it was not a pleasant experience, everything seemed to go well. I stayed awake through the procedure and was given a local anesthetic. As I lay on my back with my eyes shut and my mouth held open, the dentist seemed to bear down with all his might as he sought to rip out teeth that had been firmly embedded in my mouth for many years. To the sound of the crunching and cracking of my own teeth, I felt him pushing, pulling, and downright yanking until they finally came loose. It seemed more like the work of an auto mechanic or a demolition worker than a medical procedure. When it was all over, everything seemed fine, and I was sent home with instructions on how to recover, which I followed to a T. The first few days were normal, but then the incredible pain began. I had developed a dry socket.<br />
<br />
I wondered if other people had experienced the unbelievable levels of pain I felt. Many people online told their own horror stories. One lady even mentioned that she had given birth to eight children naturally, but that her experience with dry socket was worse! One person said they would have been willing to have their jaw amputated. Some people mentioned that clove oil provided relief. I put clove oil in my mouth, and it felt exactly like inserting a hot poker from the fireplace into the socket.<br />
<br />
It is ironic that something so tiny can cause so much pain and take your entire body out of commission. In the words of scripture, “Behold how great a matter a little fire kindleth!” The Bible also says regarding the body that if “one member suffers, all the members suffer with it.” There are a lot more dramatic ways to get injured or experience suffering, but in my experience, this little invisible torment is the absolute worst. The Hopi are a Native American tribe in Northern Arizona whose reservation lies within the borders of the Navajo reservation. Today they have a population of around 19,300 people, approximately half of whom live on the reservation, while the other half live throughout the rest of Arizona. Their reservation occupies about 2,532 square miles and is one of 22 reservations in the state of Arizona.<br />
<br />
The word “hopi” itself means “the peaceful people” in the sense of “the well-behaved ones,” probably in reference to their sedentary, agricultural lifestyle, as opposed to other bands of natives whose way of life was more nomadic and included plundering and carrying out of raids as part of their economy.<br />
<br />
It is impossible to know the exact history of the Hopi tribe due to a lack of written records, but they are most likely descendants of the ancient Anasazi tribe and are probably one of the tribes which has been in Arizona the longest. Their first contact with Europeans took place in the 16th century, when Spanish explorers first came through Arizona and encountered the Hopi and other nearby tribes whom they called “pueblo” peoples since they were settled in permanent towns (“pueblo” is the Spanish word for “town”).<br />
<br />
Much of the history of the Hopi has been shaped by their interactions with the nearby Navajo tribe, which is their traditional enemy. The Athabascan peoples who would later be known as Apaches and Navajos migrated to Arizona from Northern Canada and Alaska around the 16th century. Ever since that time, the Navajo and Hopi tribes have been close neighbors. Today the Hopi reservation exists like an island, surrounded on all sides by the Navajo reservation, and enmity between Navajos and Hopis still persists. On my many trips to the Navajo reservation, and specifically on visits to Tuba City (on the Navajo reservation) and Moenkopi (on the Hopi reservation), I have witnessed this enmity firsthand. According to the testimonies of locals, fistfights between Hopi and Navajo young people are frequent, and on the weekends, rowdy groups of young people from both sides will sometimes get together near the border of the two reservations for the purpose of a violent clash.<br />
<br />
There has also been serious conflict within the Hopi tribe itself over the issue of Westernization. In 1893 when the Oraibi Day School was founded in one of the tribe’s main cities, many Hopis, including the chief of Oraibi himself named Lololoma, were enthusiastic about Hopi children being given the opportunity to be educated and learn from white Americans. Others were very hostile to the school and viewed the efforts of both the government and missionaries as an assault on their way of life and traditional Hopi culture. This led to the town splitting into two factions, with the hostile conservative faction eventually leaving and founding their own separate village called Hotevilla in 1906. Several other towns went through similar splits in the following years.<br />
<br />
Today conditions on the Hopi reservation vary depending on which part of the reservation you visit. In the city of Moenkopi, for example, the average incomes and average housing values are the same as in the rest of Arizona (city-data.com), and the city has good infrastructure, resources, and accessibility to basic amenities. Deeper in the reservation, especially in places like Hotevilla, poverty abounds, and access to nutritious food is very limited.<br />
<br />
The Hopi reservation, like all the Indian reservations in Arizona, is a fascinating place to visit, and makes for a very educational and entertaining excursion. One of the great things about living in Arizona is having access to so many culturally diverse people and places within such a short distance of our home. I was 17 years old, and tonight I was going to be preaching for the first time in my life at the “youth service” our new church was hosting. At the youth service, teenagers handled every part of the service including song leading, piano, announcements, and even preaching. The audience would be about 150 strong, and this would be my first time speaking to a group that large in my entire life so of course, I was very nervous. I stood in front of the mirror wearing one of my dad’s ties and a very mature-looking Members Only leather jacket since I didn’t own a suit coat. I went over and over the sermon in my mind as the clock moved toward 6 o’clock faster than I would have preferred. In spite of my doubts about my personal ability to preach, I knew that I had an important message to deliver, and that God could use me to deliver it.<br />
<br />
I do not come from a long line of preachers. My dad was an electrician, his dad was an electrician, and before that, electricity may not have been invented yet. Neither of my parents were the most involved members of the church, but I never doubted their faith in the Lord or questioned how seriously they took the Bible or the things of God. I learned the basics of electrical work from my dad, but it was my mom who imparted to me my love for language and the power of words. <br />
<br />
When I was 4 years old, she taught me how to read using Dr. Seuss books like <i>Hop on Pop</i> and <i>One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish</i>. She would put pencil marks above the vowels to let me know which ones were long and which ones were short, and I would sit on her lap and read them out loud to her. <br />
<br />
When I was growing up, my mom and I always loved word-related games. We would often try to stump each other with obscure vocabulary words or sit down and play board games like Balderdash or Scrabble. When we played Scrabble in my family, no one was very patient. We didn’t like for people to take too long on their turn, so when I was taking too long on my turn, my mom would often say, “It doesn’t always have to be a blockbuster.” What she meant was that every round you play is not necessarily going to be your best round, so don’t take all day thinking about it. Sometimes you just have to throw something on the board, so we can all get on with the game. <br />
<br />
Thankfully, my first sermon went pretty well, and I was off to a decent start as a preacher. I pretty much bombed my second sermon and on many subsequent attempts, I laid an egg so to speak. In my mind as I prepared, I would be eloquent and dynamic, but when I would go to actually preach, it would often fall flat. Sometimes I questioned whether I was even cut out to be a preacher (and so did the people around me!).<br />
<br />
One night in particular I sat and listened to my pastor preaching, and it was one of those nights when he was simply on fire. I can picture him now from my front row seat as he thundered forth God’s word with such power from behind that pulpit. At that moment, I thought to myself, “I will never be able to preach as well as Pastor Nichols is preaching right now. He is preaching at a level that I will never reach. But I wonder if I can just preach well enough to be <b><i>a</i></b> pastor - not necessarily like him, but just <i><b>a</b></i> pastor. Can God use me to accomplish something for his glory?” <br />
<br />
21 years after my first sermon at that youth night, I have written and preached almost 3,000 sermons, and I’ve been a pastor now for 15 years. Preaching for one hour three times a week to the same group of people can be challenging. Especially when people have traveled a long distance to attend church or even flown in from out of town, there is a lot of pressure to preach a home run sermon. The intention is to declare the person concerned undesirable based on Section 67(1)(c) of the Aliens
Act (Vw).

The person concerned has already been identified in the Schengen Information System (SIS) on the
26th of April 2019.
<br />
<br />
3. Motivation for the intention
<br />
<br />
On the 25th of April 2019, the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security (NCTV) issued
a letter to the Head of the IND, from which it can be concluded that the information available to the
NCTV about the person concerned justifies the concern that in the Dutch context his speeches may
cause tensions between different population groups and thus disrupt the public order and public
peace. The letter is included as attachment to this Decision.
<br />
<br />
It should be noted that the person concerned was already the subject of an alert in the SIS on the
26th of April 2019, and now it can be concluded that, on the basis of the content of the letter from
the NCTV, there are concrete indications that the person concerned constitutes a threat to public
order. Reference is made to section A2/12r of the Aliens Act Implementation Guidelines (Vc). It is
also considered that, on the basis of this alert, a third country national who is not subject to a visa
requirement, such as the person concerned, and who poses a threat to public order, national security
or public health, will not be allowed entry to the Netherlands.
<br />
<br />
The person concerned resides in the United States, or at least outside the territory of the European
Union. The person concerned therefore falls within the scope of Article 67 of the Aliens Act. Pursuant
to Article 67(1)(c)(v), a foreign national may be declared undesirable if he poses a threat to public
order or national security and has no lawful residence as referred to in Article 8(a) to (e) or (l)(vw).
<br />
<br />
In this case, it turned out that the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security (NCTV)
concluded the following with regard to the person concerned in a letter dated 25 April 2019.
<br />
<br />
" Mr. Steven Anderson is an influential speaker/preacher who expresses hostility towards
homosexuals and actively promotes intolerance.
<br />
<br />
On the basis of research, I characterize speaker Steven Anderson as follows:
<br />
<br />
a. Anderson's expressions are often made in a theological discussion and are in the context of
his literal interpretation of the Bible. He's a fundamentalist Christian.
<br />
<br />
b. Anderson's sermons and statements are explicitly and fiercely against homosexuals and may
incite hatred.
<br />
<br />
c. Anderson does not call for violence against homosexuals, but applauds it when they die. He
thinks we/ the government should execute homosexuals.
<br />
<br />
d. Anderson is not openly anti-Semitic, but denies the Holocaust.
<br />
<br />
It can be noted that the information available to the NCTV about this speaker justifies the concern
that in the Dutch context his lectures may cause tensions between population groups of different
persuasions and thus disturb public order and public peace.
<br />
<br />
Incitement to hatred is punishable on the basis of Article 137d of the Penal Code and although the
assessment of punishability will always depend on the individual merits of the case, it follows from
the case law of the Supreme Court 2 that this may include statements that incite hatred or violence
or discrimination, but also statements that encourage intolerance.
<br />
<br />
The statements made by the person concerned, including cheering on the deaths of homosexuals
and the need for the government to execute homosexuals, are, by their very nature, intolerant.
According to the letter from the NCIV, the person concerned is actively promoting intolerance.
The statements made by the person concerned also imply that he is coming to the Netherlands for
"preaching and soul winning events "3 . It can be deduced from this that the person in question also
intends to influence others with his intolerant views.
<br />
<br />
In the light of the above, it is concluded that the person concerned is a real and imminent threat to
public order and that the presence of the person concerned in the country constitutes a present, real
and sufficiently serious threat affecting one of the fundamental interests of society. Incitement to
hatred of homosexuals affects a fundamental principle of society.
<br />
<br />
The intention to come to Amsterdam on the 23rd of May 2019, and by actively spreading his
message and the intention to gain support for his ideas within the Netherlands, also constitutes a
genuine and imminent threat to the public order. I also include the knowledge that, notwithstanding
the efforts of the Dutch government in that respect, violence against persons of a sexual orientation
other than heterosexual is not inconceivable in the Netherlands. Against this background, the risk
cannot be accepted that the presence and public action of the person concerned will directly lead to
an incorrect perception on the part of some and may contribute to the willingness of those persons
to commit (serious) violent crimes against the group referred to here. In view of the far-reaching nature of the statements made by the person concerned, this also constitutes a sufficiently serious
threat.
<br />
<br />
With this in consideration, it is concluded that there is a genuine, imminent and sufficiently serious
threat to one of the fundamental principles of society.
<br />
<br />
It is therefore considered that in this case the interests of public order and public security to be
protected, should prevail over the interests of the person concerned, that are served by a
(temporary) stay in the Netherlands. It is considered that, in view of the conclusion in the NCTV's
letter, in this case the interest of protecting public order must prevail over the freedom of the person
concerned to express his or her freedom of expression and religion.
In view of this, the intention is to declare the person concerned an undesirable foreign national on
the basis of Article 67(1)(c) of the Aliens Act Implementation Guidelines (VW).
<br />
<br />
In addition, the following is being considered.
The information at my disposal does not indicate that the decision declaring the person concerned
undesirable to be in breach of his private or family life or family life as referred to in Article 8 of the
European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). Nor has there been any evidence of any particular
facts or circumstances on the basis of which an undesirability should not be pronounced.
<br />
<br />
As noted earlier, there is also reason, apart from the pronouncement of undesirability on the basis of
section A2/12 of the Aliens Act implementation guidelines, to report the person concerned to the SIS
for a period of two years, because there are concrete indications that the person concerned poses a
threat to public order. This alert shall have immediate effect. The person concerned may request that
it be revoked or may object to it.
<br />
<br />
The pronouncement of undesirability will remain in force until it is lifted. Pursuant to Section 68 of
the Aliens Act, the pronouncement of undesirability can only be lifted on request and subject to
certain conditions. Article 6.6, paragraphs 2 and 3, of the Aliens Decree (Vb) does not provide for a
period after which the pronouncement of undesirability in a situation such as this one is in any case
lifted.
<br />

4. Submission of Opinion
<br />
<br />
Pursuant to Articles 4:7 and 4:8 of the General Administrative Law Act, the person concerned may
express his views on the intention to declare him as an undesirable decision (in writing) and in doing
so may present facts and circumstances which, in his opinion, should be taken into account in the
decision-making process.
<br />
<br />
The party concerned will be given the opportunity to express his views on the intention in writing
within two weeks of the date of this intention and/or following the day of the announcement in the
Netherlands Government Gazette, i.e. ending on the 15th of May 2019. This opinion must be sent by
the person concerned, his (special) agent or a lawyer, if he declares that he is specifically authorised,
to the fax and P.O. Box mentioned on the first page of this intention, with reference to V-number:
2872359350 and/or to the e-mail address mentioned on the first page of this intention.

The Opinion was submitted in due time if it was delivered by post before the end of the two-week
period, provided that it was received no later than one week after the expiry of the deadline. The
absence of an opinion after that period does not preclude the adoption of a decision.

...having dishonored that which was natural, they ran after that which was contrary to nature. But that which is contrary to nature hath in it an irksomeness and displeasingness, so that they could not fairly allege even pleasure. For genuine pleasure is that which is according to nature. But when God hath left one, then all things are turned upside down. And thus not only was their doctrine Satanical, but their life too was diabolical.

Here in the place of the world he sets the pleasure according to nature, which they would have enjoyed with more sense of security and greater glad-heartedness, and so have been far removed from shameful deeds. There are many wonderful resources available for learning Greek that provide an alternative to attending a Bible college or seminary. Here are some reasons why I do not recommend learning Greek at a Bible college:<br />

- high cost<br />
- inconvenient<br />
- outdated Erasmian pronunciation<br />
- use of corrupt Greek texts<br />
- non-KJV translation philosophy<br />
<br />
The methods that I am recommending for learning Greek are easier, cheaper, make a lot more sense, and will strengthen your faith in the English King James Bible instead of seeking to tear it down.<br />
<br />
The first thing I recommend is that you start by learning the basics of <u><b>modern Greek</b></u> before jumping into Biblical κοινη Greek. Starting with modern Greek will help you get the correct pronunciation from native speakers, not the ugly, awkward pronunciation taught in seminaries that features a heavy American accent and will have native Greeks face-palming and shaking their heads. Also, learning modern Greek first will help you see Greek as a real-life, living language, not a dead language from the past. Once you've learned the basics of modern Greek by completing one or all of the above courses, the transition into Biblical Greek will not be difficult. The first thing you will need is a Greek New Testament which can be purchased from the <a href="https://www.tbsbibles.org/">Trinitarian Bible Society</a>. Another thing that is very helpful is having audio of the Greek New Testament, which is available on the <a href="https://www.faithfulwordapp.com/">Faithful Word app for Android or iPhone</a>. The audio is a reading of the Textus Receptus by a native modern Greek speaker.<br />

One of the best strategies for learning <i>any</i> language is to start by learning a lot of vocabulary. Flash cards can be very helpful, and there is <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Basics-Biblical-Vocabulary-Zondervan-Builder/dp/0310259878/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=biblical+greek+flash+cards&qid=1551199236&s=gateway&sr=8-1">a set of flash cards available for Biblical Greek</a> that teach you the 1,000 most common words in the New Testament. The New Testament uses about 5,420 vocabulary words, but thousands of them are used only once or just a couple of times. You would rather focus on learning the common vocabulary words first. For example, the 320 most commonly used words represent 80% of the New Testament text. The 882 most commonly used words represent 90% of the New Testament text. Therefore if you learn the 1,000 most commonly used words, you will know over 90% of the Greek words that appear on a typical page of your Greek New Testament. Studies show that if you know 95-98% of the words in a text, you will be able to understand the remaining 2-5% from the context. Not only that, but if you know the Bible very well in English, you will easily understand the unknown words from the context, and over time, you will learn them all.<br />

Lastly, you should work on learning the grammar. Do yourself a favor and learn this last. Why? Because the grammar is difficult and discouraging, but if you have already completed the above steps, it will be <b><u>much</u></b> easier. Duolingo, Rosetta Stone, and Pimsleur will have already painlessly taught you a lot of grammar. Then you will intuitively pick up a lot of grammar through reading the New Testament as you learn the vocabulary from the flash cards. By the time you get to serious study of grammar, you will just be filling in gaps and learning forms that are already somewhat familiar. The Bible college classes will throw you into heavy grammar right away which is a mistake. Following the above approach will make learning Greek much more enjoyable and less of a chore.<br />

One book you could use for learning the grammar is "Beginning Greek: a Functional Approach" by Stephen W. Paine (WARNING: wrong Greek text of the Bible. Be sure to replace the reading selections with readings from your TBS Greek Textus Receptus). The first half of the book teaches the κοινη Greek of the Bible (1st century A.D.), and the second half of the book teaches Attic Greek (classical Greek from the 4th century B.C.) with readings from Xenophon. I am currently studying the Homeric Greek of the Iliad (8th century B.C.) using the book "Homeric Greek: a Book for Beginners" by Clyde Pharr. Both of these books contain difficult grammar, and I highly recommend finishing all the above steps first before moving on to these types of books.<br />

I was administratively discharged after a couple of weeks in boot camp because my testimony to the chaplain about severe abuses led to my life and several others being put in danger. They begged me to stay after an official investigation. I chose to leave after it was obvious that my life was in danger. Several Marine Drill Instructors were threatening my life and I had to be put under protection. They had an official investigation and halted the platoon's training. Several men tried to escape. Some tried to kill themselves. I almost stayed. However, when they were giving me time to decide if I wanted to stay, three Marine Drill Instructors threatened my life (again) at the Mess Hall. The Commander of the base was asking me to give them another chance in a new platoon. After the last threat on my life, he and I agreed it was no longer safe and that I should leave. I left as MY decision. It was an administrative discharge. You are guilty here, Steven. I want to be merciful to you. However, you need to repent, have integrity, confess sin, and change your ways.<br /><br />SA: Are you denying telling the drill instructor that you were a homosexual?<br />Can you just answer my simple question? We should now be on the alert that the reason stated might not truthful but rather deceptive. Does the subject have a different reason for avoiding a phone call?<br /><br />Also, the reason given is “Christmas”, with the connotation being that of a deeply spiritual and family affair. It portrays the subject as someone who is diligent in setting much time aside for the observance of religious holidays in the circle of his loved ones. It reveals the subject’s background, experiences, priority, and personality. <br /><br />After being accused of “homosexuality,” which should be considered one of the most egregious sins by the subject, an evangelical pastor, he instead responds with “Respectfully”. Such a positive and mild response is unexpected. The expectation would be righteous indignation at such a false accusation. The subject here does not tell us that the accusation is false, only that he was accused, which is correct and truthful. We will now be on the lookout for him to call such an accusation “false.” <br /><br />“it would have been great if you had asked me” is likewise unexpected. It is much milder than for example the clear demand, “You should have asked me.” Instead, “would have been great” is not a demand, just a preference on the part of the subject, while expressing understanding about his request not having been met. Again, “public” slander takes priority over “false witness.” The public’s view is of the highest priority to the subject, more so than the allegation of being a homosexual. <br /><br />The sinful things Steven Anderson will one day have to account for (deity noted as a bolster again) are listed in general terms, not as wrongs done to the subject himself. <br /><br />So far, the subject has not told us, “Steven Anderson falsely accused me of xyz”. He has only stated that Steven Anderson has accused him (but not falsely), which is technically correct. He has also told us that Steven Anderson will one day have to give account of miscellaneous sins that the subject has not specifically related to himself. This suggests that his real hope is to see Steven Anderson “fall”, be “broken”, and “humbled.” <br /><br />Such language is also the language of abuse, and could be a signal of portrayal/projection/perseveration on the part of the subject. Is there something in his past that “broke” and “humbled” him, that he feels he needs to “come clean” with, but is concerned about his “public” image?<br /><br />

That is to say that if his demands are not met, he would like to abuse Steven Anderson. He has now moved from his past abuse, to the possibility of perpetuating such abuse himself.<br /><br />Emphasis on public perception noted again.<br /><br />The subject continues to use wording that suggests a general “pattern of slander” on the part of Steven Anderson, but is unable or unwilling to say that he, himself, was falsely accused by Steven Anderson regarding his military dismissal or otherwise. <br /><br />

While the subject takes ownership of his life, he makes no such personal connection to “ministry.” He does not view it as “his” ministry, calling, or life’s work. It is what he does, but it is not as important or of personal significance to him as his life. <br /><br />

The subject was careful to make that distinction in defending himself, yet offers no such defense of his wife. <br /><br />It is also noted that defending his wife comes second to defending himself, but before addressing the issue at hand (military discharge) which the subject continues to avoid. <br /><br />“my wife” is an incomplete social introduction as it leaves off the name of his wife. This could be an indication of distance in the husband-wife relationship.<br /><br />

Is it possible that his wife only drinks excessively (by definition of the subject) in private? <br /><br />“Her” is to avoid using his wife’s name, again indicating a distance between husband and wife.<br /><br />

I was <u>absolutely</u> <u>NEVER</u> <u>kicked out</u> of the Marines for being a homosexual. </blockquote>
<br />This is not a reliable denial. A reliable denial would have been, “I was not kicked out of the Marines for being a homosexual.” “Never", in an open statement, is vague in time. When the point of the question is directed to a specific event at a specific time, and the person answers, "I did not do xyz" it is, statistically, very likely that the person is truthful. If the person says, "I never did xyz", it is not reliable, statistically, and the person could be lying. It is not reliable.<br />“Never” speaks to a process of time, or events that occur repeatedly. It cannot be reliably used in the context of one-time events, such as being discharged from the military on bad terms. Just as someone would not say, “I was never born in California,” saying “I was never kicked out for being a homosexual” makes no sense because it would have been a one-time only event. <br />The denial is further weakened by seeking to bolster it through the use of ALL CAPS, and the unnecessary addition of the word “absolutely.” <br />The original question asked of the subject was, “Apparently you were discharged for homosexuality?” In his ‘denial,’ the subject changes “discharged” to “kicked out.” This begs the question whether the subject has a different internal definition of discharged vs. kicked out. <br /><br />If he, as alleged by Steven Anderson, self-reported to the drill instructor as being a homosexual so as to be discharged on the grounds of the then in-effect policy of “don’t ask, don’t tell”, such a discharge could be viewed differently from being “kicked out” due to being caught. This is similar to those who lose their job saying, “I was not fired, I quit.” The impetus for the discharge ultimately came from the subject himself, whereas he might perceive being “kicked out” as stemming purely from decisions outside his control. <br /><br />
<blockquote>
I <u>never</u> have been a homosexual. </blockquote>
<br />The unusual sentence structure is noted, with “never” coming before “have.” Using “never” allows the subject to avoid saying “I have not been..” As stated above, never is vague in time and thus not reliable. <br /><br />The subject should be questioned regarding his definition of a homosexual. Just as with “drunk”, his internal definition might be different from the expected norm. Maybe the fact that he is married and has a family technically makes him a “bisexual.” Maybe he thinks that homosexuals, by definition, have to meet certain criteria that he, himself, does not meet, such as seeking only after men. <br /><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
I was administratively <u>discharged</u> after a couple of weeks in boot camp <span style="background-color: cyan;">because</span> my testimony to the chaplain about severe abuses led to my life and several others <u>being put in danger. </u></blockquote>
<br />Here, we see again the difference in language, now going back to “discharged”. What changed it from “kicked out” to “discharged”? The subject’s testimony to the chaplain (inclusion of deity). This confirms that in the subject’s mind, there is a difference between being “kicked out” (something that happened without his doing, outside his control) and being “discharged” (something initiated by the subject himself). Even if the above denial had been reliable, the subject thus far has still not told us that he was not discharged for being a homosexual, only that he was not kicked out over that. It is a minor difference that allows the subject to technically speak truthfully in his own mind, while being deceptive and misleading. <br /><br />“my life … being put in danger” is passive. It conceals who put his life in danger. Such passivity is appropriate if the subject does not know who was the one to threaten him. Otherwise, it is an indication that the subject seeks to hide the identity of whoever threatened him.<br /><br />
<blockquote>
They <u>begged</u> me to stay after an official investigation. </blockquote>
<br />It is difficult to imagine the powerful United States military, second-to-none in the world, “begging” a new recruit to stay on. <br /><br />Such language continues the theme of past abuse, perseverated in this event. <br /><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<u>I chose</u> to <span style="background-color: cyan;">leave</span> after it was obvious that <u>my life was in danger.</u> <u>Several</u> Marine Drill Instructors were threatening my life and I had to be put under protection. They had an official investigation and halted the platoon's training. Several men tried to escape. Some tried to kill themselves. I almost stayed. However, when they were giving me time to decide if I wanted to stay, three Marine Drill Instructors threatened my life (again) at the Mess Hall. </blockquote>
<br />“Leaving” is the only other thing (besides giving a reason without being asked) that is flagged in the highest level of sensitivity (blue). It is impossible to go somewhere without first leaving somewhere else. The fact that “leaving” is mentioned unnecessarily points to the fact that something happened at the place that was “left” which caused the subject’s mind to linger there. Most often, this is due to rushing and being pressed for time. When that is not the case, it is indicative of missing information. <br /><br />Going from the again passive “my life was in danger” to “several Marine Drill Instructors were threatening my life” to “three Marine Drill Instructors threatened my life” is a change in language that is likely indicative of a change of reality. Something changed that made it known to the subject what the source of the threats was. The Mess Hall is mentioned as a minor detail, possibly in a bid to bolster the veracity of this account. <br /><br />Three is sometimes flagged as the “liar’s number” and thus considered not reliable. This is due to the fact that statistically, if a deceptive person has to pick a random number to use, three is picked more often than any other number. <br /><br />
<blockquote>
The Commander of the base was <u>asking</u> me to <u>give them another chance</u> in a new platoon. </blockquote>
<br />We now see a Marine Corps base commander, the highest official on site, continue in the vein of begging a new recruit to stay on as a sort of personal favor. This is most unusual. <br /><br />

After the last threat on my life, <u>he and I agreed</u> it was no longer safe and that I should <span style="background-color: cyan;">leave</span>. I <span style="background-color: cyan;">left</span> as <u>MY decision</u>. It was an administrative discharge. </blockquote>
<br />We now have a “cluster of blues.” This points to missing information, not rushing, having produced the repeated mentions of “leaving.” Something happened here that the subject is deceptively withholding from his account. <br /><br />Here, we conclusively see the subject equating “MY decision” = “an administrative discharge”. This voids the earlier denial of “I was absolutely NEVER kicked out” (which was a non-denial) as pertinent to the question of “discharge.” The subject makes a clear distinction between being kicked out vs. discharged. He has only told us that he was not kicked out for homosexuality, he has told us he was discharged, but he has not told us he was not discharged due to homosexuality.<br /><br />

<br />The happiness continues, while the subject avoids answering the question of whether he told the drill instructor that he was a homosexual. To not answer the question is to answer the question. <br /><br />

SA: Cut the crap. I don't have "more questions." I have one question.<br />The epistle you wrote me accusing me of slander is meaningless if what I said is substantially true. <br />The “No. I wasn’t.” apparently is in response to “You were discharged from the military because of you being perceived as homosexual.” It lacks one of the three necessary elements of a reliable denial (mention of the specific allegation). <br /><br />The use of “Steven” is incongruous with that of “sir.” This suggest disingenuity <br /><br />

Such is not characteristic of an innocent person that is falsely accused. The expected would be a strong desire to defend oneself against false accusations. <br /><br />The subject says he wants to “see” Steven Anderson acknowledge error. This continues in the vein of subtle threats, and a desire to “see” his opponent humiliated and in need of “mercy.” <br /><br />

<br />Religious language (prayer) enters again, possibly to seek the guise of godliness for malicious intents. The continued disingenuous use of “sir” seeks to do the same. <br /><br />The introduction of “men” that are needed to “speak into” the life of Steven Anderson is possible indication of same-sex attraction on the part of the subject, projected onto his perceived opponent. <br /><br />

<br />To not answer the question is to answer the question. The innocent are eager to proclaim their innocence. <br /><br />

He only issues a reliable denial in regards to himself being a drunk. However, this denial comes down to his personal definition of what makes a “drunk.”<br /><br />His language indicates a strained / distant husband-wife relationship. Defending himself takes priority over defending his wife.<br /><br />The subject’s highest priority is the public’s perception of him. Furthermore, he wants to be perceived as “happy” and “respectful,” as juxtaposed to the “slanderous” and “dangerous” Steven Anderson.<br /><br />The subject shows repeated signals of having been a victim of abuse himself. <br /><br />The subject shows signs of religious grandeur in repeatedly equating himself with deity. <br /><br />The subject’s goal is for Steven Anderson to “fall” and be publicly humiliated. In his words, he reveals that he would like to personally “see” this humiliation. He leaves open the option of “abusing” Steven Anderson if his demands are not met.<br />

Have you ever been to a church that did not believe in praising the Lord with musical instruments? Do you wonder how they can teach that, when all through Psalms we are commanded to praise the Lord with both singing and instruments? Well, there’s a teaching out there called the “regulative principle of worship,” which Wikipedia defines as follows:

“The regulative principle of worship is a Christian doctrine, held by some Calvinists and Anabaptists, that God commands churches to conduct public services of worship using certain distinct elements affirmatively found in Scripture, and conversely, that God prohibits any and all other practices in public worship. The doctrine further determines these affirmed elements to be those set forth in Scripture by express commands or examples, or if not expressed, those which are implied logically by good and necessary consequence. The regulative principle thus provides a governing concept of worship as obedience to God, identifies the set of specific practical elements constituting obedient worship, and identifies and excludes disobedient practices.

The regulative principle of worship is held, practiced, and vigorously maintained by conservative Reformed churches, the Restoration Movement, and other conservative Protestant denominations. In a nutshell, the regulative principle teaches that if something is not mentioned in the Bible, we shouldn’t do it, when really we should be avoiding things that are actually prohibited, which is what the “normative principle” teaches. The normative principle as explained here by Wikipedia seems to be the normal, logical position.

This is not to say that independent Baptists have an “anything goes” mentally about how we conduct our church services (far from it.) Obviously, we must use common sense when deciding what is right and wrong. If something is not specifically mentioned in the Bible, we look at biblical principles when making our decision about whether or not something is expedient. For example, smoking is not specifically prohibited, but gluttony and drunkenness are, and the Bible says our body is the temple of the Lord. For this reason, most preachers will at least advise against smoking.
<br />
<br />
Churches that do not allow musical instruments will bring up the fact that the New Testament doesn’t mention musical instruments being used in the early church. They somehow go with their man-made regulative principle, even though in this case their conclusion contradicts clear Old Testament scripture. The commands to praise the Lord with stringed instruments, etc. were never amended or done away with in the New Testament. We don’t get our doctrine from what IS NOT mentioned in the Bible but from what IS mentioned.

It’s not just the denominations listed in the above Wikipedia article that prohibit musical instruments in church. Most Church of Christ denominations are also against using any musical instruments in their services.

<br />
I know that the churches that hold that position have a lot bigger problems, but I still find this interesting. For some reason, they choose the regulatory principle over common sense. For example, a buddy of mine actually heard Psalm 150 being read in a Presbyterian church that did not allow musical instruments. He obviously found it ironic, but it’s really not that surprising since most Christian denominations don’t like to admit that they shy away from certain passages.

I know this isn’t a salvation issue, but when someone believes something as weird and unscriptural as banning musical instruments from church, I can’t help but doubt their salvation. The only way I can see a saved person agreeing with something like that is if they’ve never read the Bible because, over and over, God commands us to praise the Lord with various instruments. If anything, churches should be adding more musical instruments.<br />
<br />
Stringed instruments, in particular, are emphasized in the Bible, yet many churches won’t allow so much as a piano. If a saved person believes this strange doctrine out of ignorance, I bet they are going to be surprised when they get to Heaven and at some point are issued a harp!<br />

Last year my family and I visited El Cajon, CA to meat up with some new friends to go out into the community and share what the Bible says about Heaven. At that meet-up Michelle (my wife) and I were befriended by two ladies, a mom and daughter, Debbie and McKenzie Schroeder. These ladies had a smile on their face. Debbie is a dedicated mom; McKenzie is a kind young lady and a diligent student.

Today, when I came home I was greeted with the news that Debbie and McKenzie were ARRESTED while knocking doors of local Chandler residents to invite people to church and to share what the Bible says. (Our church practice 100% of the time is to leave when a resident tells us to do so). We are not trouble makers!

If it wasn't for the first hand accounts of friends who were with them and the video evidence that is now circulating, I wouldn't have believed it. Here are my questions for the Chief of Police, Chandler:

Is it normal procedure for the Chandler Police Department to arrest women who are knocking doors to give out information about their church or to ask residents if they would like to know what the Bible says?

How does a SERGEANT (Donna Reno) in the Chandler Police Department become so ignorant of the law of our nation and end up arresting law abiding citizens? The group even had a document in hand that Chandler officers ignored, while violating their 1st Amendment right. You wrote on the Chandler PD website, "We are committed to ensuring that Chandler remains a safe city where people want to live and work. Our officers are well-equipped, highly-trained, and engaged in the community. Our employees are a dedicated and enthusiastic group of professionals who take great pride in their work." How are Chandler officers "highly-trained" when they make bogus arrests based on what one or two citizens allege, instead of making decisions based upon law? Many of the locals wanted to hear our message or receive our information.

Why did officers lie to two other members of the group (not Debbie and McKenzie) and say that they had already been told to leave the community just to coerce them to leave? No community can trust officers who are lying whether intentional or not.

Where is the common sense in the decision to charge an 18 year old with "tampering with evidence" because instinct told her to pick up her mom's personal effects when they fell to the ground because an officer decided to grab her mother?

On the Chandler Police Website you wrote, "I am honored to serve alongside the men and women of the Chandler Police Department, who understand that, in order for us to successfully accomplish our mission, we must have the confidence, support, and respect of the people who visit, live, and work in our city." How does the Chandler PD maintain the confidence of it's community when it's officers lose their cool and bully local church members?

In his blog post, “Questions about our Graduates,” Paul Chappell, president of West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California, is on the defensive about my recent comments about West Coast graduate, Pastor John Guy. In his post, Chappell gives us even more negative examples of West Coasts graduates, but for his positive examples, he conveniently points us to the most isolated graduates possible—a missionary to a tribe in Nicaragua with no phone service or electricity, a tiny church in “rural Kansas,” and another guy in Siberia that we have no way of observing.

Paul Chappell probably wouldn’t feel the need to write this piece if it were just me and others in our movement speaking out against Bible college. Lots of old-style IFB churches all over America have been training preachers in-house instead of sending them off to Bible college, and it has been this way for quite some time. A lot of great pastors came out of Hyles-Anderson College in its heyday when Brother Hyles was still alive, but most of us are not impressed with the fruit coming from today’s Bible colleges. The Bible college model was unbiblical to begin with, and the Bible college era is going the way of the dinosaur. Today, Baptist popes like Paul Chappell are having to work harder than ever to recruit new students for their colleges. “Youth conferences” are often nothing more than infomercials for Bible college, and a lot of IFB’s are choosing not to participate in these embarrassing three-ring circuses.

People in the new IFB movement are not Paul Chappell’s target audience. We aren’t the ones with "questions about his graduates." We already know what they are! I guarantee you there are mainstream IFB pastors out there contacting Paul Chappell and saying things like, “I don’t like Steven Anderson, but this Pastor Polka Dot coming out of your college looks like he has lace on his underwear!” Let’s face it, most IFB pastors are manly men who are disgusted with modern neo-evangelical style churches. I’m against all Bible college in general, but West Coast grads in particular tend to come out super liberal and in many cases, effeminate.

Young ladies who go to Bible college for their “MRS. degree” often end up marrying a weak and watered down pastor or worse--an unsaved false teacher. Another travesty is that single women who are unable or unwilling to go off to Bible college often have a hard time finding people to date in their local church. I’ve even heard of young pastor’s sons urging young ladies in the church to attend Bible college so that they will be “allowed” to date them. This is ludicrous! Why wouldn’t a pastor want his adult son to date a saved girl he met at his own church!?

If you desire to be a pastor, find a church that you agree with on the important things, and then let your pastor train you and send you out. If he has a preaching class or an in-house Bible institute, then take advantage of those classes, but even if he doesn’t, he should be willing to simply mentor you as you study the Bible for yourself while serving in the local church. If you are a pastor who is reading this, stop sending your best young people off to be corrupted or effeminized in schools like West Coast Baptist College and train them yourself.

My grandma, Helen Anderson, who was my Dad’s mom, passed away recently at the age of 96, and we held her memorial service here at Faithful Word Baptist Church. My dad, my brother, my older sister, and I all got up and shared fond memories about our Grandma who was a godly Christian lady. We also talked a little about my grandpa, who passed away 25 years earlier. It was great spending time over the weekend with my dad, all three of my siblings, and their families.<br />

In a way, Grandma got to speak at her own funeral because I showed some footage of her from a few years ago. I then preached a sermon entitled “Precious in the Sight of the Lord is the Death of his Saints” as a tribute to my grandparents. The sermon was about how it is biblical to honor those who have contributed to us spiritually. In my sermon, I also hit on some issues my grandparents were passionate about. Grandpa hated Calvinism and tried to warn his whole family against it. My dad definitely got the message, and he passed that hatred of Calvinism down to us. Hopefully, my aunts and cousins who weren’t at the service were watching online and reminded of one of the important doctrines my grandpa taught us and the fact that he left behind letters he had written to his descendants about it.<br />

If you knew my Grandma, you would understand that it was only fitting to have hard preaching as part of her memorial service. Grandpa was definitely a contender of the faith, and Grandma was the woman behind the man. Grandma stuck by her husband through the hard times and played a pivotal role in his salvation. Because of her prayers and faithfulness, my Grandpa and my Dad were eventually led to the Lord by an independent fundamental Baptist pastor.

I’ve been blessed with a godly heritage, so it was a privilege to put on a memorial service in honor of a virtuous woman who has contributed so much spiritually to our family. Not only was Grandma a great Christian and soul winner, but she was a fun grandma that we loved dearly, and we had a great time reminiscing about her. So Paul Chappell is blessing us with a church plant here in Tempe called Citypoint Baptist Church. The Pastor’s name is John Guy, but I call him “Pastor Polka Dot.” When I first heard about him, I clicked on his website and saw him in this trendy polka dot shirt. His Twitter profile shows him in a pink polka dot shirt and super skinny jeans, and what did I find on facebook? More polka dots! I’ve now seen this guy in at least four different polka dot shirts, so the nickname I gave him definitely fits. I would expect any grown man who names the name of Christ to be manly, but this John Guy is a pastor!<br />

Even a casual internet search of secular websites will tell you that polka dots are normally worn by women and that men in polka dots are very “fashion forward” and run the risk of looking “flamboyant.” In fact, Pastor Polka Dot is so cutting edge, there’s a picture of him on facebook in skinny SHORTS. I’ve been preaching against skinny jeans for a while, but I didn’t even know skinny shorts were a thing! And let’s face it, men who try to show off their body look effeminate and queer!

We’ve got a bunch of skinny-jeans wearing sissies coming to Tempe to start a church. Not only does the pastor look effeminate, but he’s bringing music director, Mark Rasmussen Jr., whose mannerisms are way worse. <br />

I mean, I hope Mark is straight because he comes from a good family, but I’m having a hard time believing it. If these guys don’t want to be accused of being queer, then why do they look like queers and act like queers!? Why don’t they start dressing like men? You may not think this is a big deal, but this is the leadership of a fundamental Baptist church! John Guy is currently the assistant pastor at Lancaster Baptist Church. Men are being taught by example to be effeminate, which is a sin. The Bible teaches that people are an abomination when they wear gender bending clothing.<br />

Citypoint will have no standards. Their music style is pretty much the Back Street Boys minus the drums, and the women wear whatever they want. The music director posted a video of him proposing to a woman wearing a bikini top and short shorts, and in the same video he announces the new church plant in Tempe! At another point in the video his wife is wearing jeans with holes in the knees. These aren’t new Christians or backslidden laymen in the church. These are staff members from a Bible college, and this is what they are publicly posting.

Tempe. Honestly though, this new church isn’t needed. We’ve already got
plenty of contemporary churches in this area. It’s a shame when many of
the IFB churches today are identical to the non-denominational
contemporary churches, with the only difference being that they use the
KJV. I thought we as independent fundamental Baptists were old-fashioned
and believed men should look like men and women should look like

Even the name of the new church in Tempe is patterned after the typical non-denominational liberal church. Citypoint Baptist Church will be meeting at the Improv, a comedy night club. The church is such a joke it meets at a comedy club! Of all the storefronts and office space available in this area, they chose to meet in a bar so they can have purple lighting and a fancy sound system for their faggoty music.

It’s easy to rip on guys like Pastor Polka Dot and his whiny worship leader, but effeminate clothing on boys can creep into even good churches. Young people see this kind of clothing in advertisements and the media, and they have a tendency to conform to whatever’s in style. It doesn’t mean they have queer tendencies, but it means that they are following people who are queer and wicked. As fathers who are old enough to know better, we need to crack down on our sons if they start to wear this type of clothing. If people want to conform to this world and come to church in skinny jeans, I’m not going to police them. It’s the job of the parents to regulate the clothing in their own house, but I can promise you that my family and the staff members of this church and their families are going to wear clothes that fit!

One of the most common ways that people make friends is by working together. Think about how close you have gotten with people you’ve worked with. The reason for that is that there is a camaraderie that develops when people have common goals and shared experiences. If you work with someone long enough, you’ll end up with lots of fun stories to reminisce about.

Your closest friends should be fellow believers, but sometimes it can be hard to break into the inner circle of a church. Ideally, everyone should be friendly, but sometimes conversations can be superficial until people get to know you better. If you haven’t been successful at making friends in your church, it might be that you haven’t worked with anyone yet.
<br />
<br />
Perhaps you’ve been to a church with several Sunday school classes or “small group Bible studies.” The reason they break things up that way is to create a smaller atmosphere in the hopes that people will form friendships. At FWBC, we have a better way for people to get to know each other, and that’s by having multiple soul-winning times. By showing up for soul winning on a regular basis, you’ll get to know the people who go soul winning at the same time you do.

<br />
Soul winning with someone is a lot more interactive than just sitting next to them in church. If you spend an hour or two out knocking doors with somebody, you’re bound to get to know them as you chat between doors. Just like with that co-worker, you’ll build a relationship with your soul-winning partner as you work together toward a common goal.

Here at FWBC, people are enjoying great fellowship while soul winning here in the Phoenix area, on nearby Indian reservations, and even on foreign missions trips. Wherever you go to church, I encourage you to show up for one or more of the soul-winning times. In addition to that, you can make friends with even more people by showing up to a soul-winning marathon put on by one of the churches in our movement. You need fellowship, and we are commanded to win souls, so you will be killing two birds with one stone. Get your feet wet as a silent partner and make a new friend or two in the process. Winning souls is a win-win!

Recently there was a Ruckmanite conference at Victory Baptist Church in Hartford, MI, which I watched online. Since this took place almost exactly one year after the conference Keith Gomez and Sam Gipp held to attack yours truly, I can’t help but assume this was the second annual “Anti-Anderson conference.” I’m calling it that because Ruckmanite ring-leader, Sam Gipp, is clearly obsessed with me. Although I jokingly refer to their little pro-Israel conference as an anti-Anderson conference, I realize that the entire conference wasn’t about me. Haha. There were several other surprising themes including glorification of violence toward Muslims and also something for all the sci-fi buffs out there.

Although I had the most pulpit mentions, I’m not the only pastor these guys have a beef with. Pastor Bill Grady, one of the keynote speakers at the conference told a story about Pastor McMurtry asking him some questions on the phone about the Jews. Grady likes to say that Pastor McMurtry wasted his time, when Grady was actually the one that called Pastor McMurtry trying to sell him his new book! One of the craziest statements from the conference came from Pastor Rick Sowell when he said, “I think God’s plan is to populate this entire universe.” Who sits in a church service and listens to this stuff? Regardless of the fact that I was banned from Jamaica, the Jamaica mission trip was still a huge success. Out of the 39 people who were planning on going on that trip, 37 of them made it to the field. The only two people who didn’t end up going were my son Isaac and me.

On a week-long mission trip, those 37 people got approximately 800 saved through personal soul winning, either one-on-one or in very small groups. Jamaica is an extremely receptive place, and people were ready to hear the Gospel.

<br />
Not only did the team do a lot of personal soul winning, but they also preached to many large crowds. I saw video footage of members of the team preaching to public school assemblies of around 500-600 teenagers. Not only that, but they also got to preach to smaller groups in individual classrooms. Sometimes they were given an entire hour to teach the Bible in these classes. In addition to the preaching they did in the schools, they were also able to preach in police departments to the police force, and they were even allowed onto a military base to preach to the military.

Thousands of people heard the gospel, and over 7,000 DVDS and flash drives were handed out, mainly the DVD “New World Order Bible Versions.” Not only are there now a lot of Baptist materials floating around Jamaica, but the media coverage of me getting banned will potentially cause millions of people all over the Caribbean to hear the Gospel message online.

With all of the negative publicity, you would think that some of the preaching engagements would have gotten canceled, but they all went off without a hitch. In fact, the only place that canceled anything was a left-wing university that decided not to show the movie Babylon U.S.A., probably for political reasons. The fact that our soul winners were received so well goes to show that it wasn’t the people of Jamaica that didn’t want us there.

As with other times I’ve been banned from a country, the media attention boosted internet traffic and millions of people heard the Word of God preached online. The trip itself was a major success, and it wasn’t slowed down whatsoever by me getting banned. Those 37 people accomplished a lot in Jamaica, and the 11 people in Aruba who my son and I were able to win to the Lord, definitely benefited from the change in our plans.
