3 Ways to be a Bad Church Member
1. Try to Change the Pastor
First of all, you need to realize that no two Christians believe exactly alike on every single thing. Find a church that you agree with on the important things and then overlook the rest. One person met with a pastor several times trying to get him to change the entire structure of his church before he ever visited even once. This person should have either adapted or gone somewhere else. It’s fine to humbly ask your pastor questions about verses that support your differing belief, but don’t sweat the small stuff. You might even be the one in the wrong. Just get your butt into a good church, and sit down and shut up.
“Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;” 1 Timothy 5:1
2. Avoid Fellowship
If you’ve been going to a church for several years, and people are still asking if you are a first time visitor, you aren’t showing yourself friendly. One person that this happened to admitted that she understood why it happened because she never talked to anybody, and she really didn’t. Let that never be said of you, friend.
“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24
3. Create Drama
You don’t have to be best friends with everyone in the church, but can you at least just smile and say hi when you accidentally cross paths when someone you don’t like? Maybe if you pray for that person your heart will change over time. The only person you can control is yourself. This is an important principle, which applies to all relationships—not just friendships between church members.
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16
The best way to be a good church member is to find a church where you can respect the pastor. Be friendly, and avoid voicing minor disagreements. When you get home, don’t complain about your church to your family. When you have roast preacher for dinner, you are causing your children or spouse to have a bad attitude. Don’t criticize the man of God on the internet either. Anything you put in writing can be shown to someone else, and your pastor might just throw you out of the church as a railer and a backbiter. If you do have to leave, go out gracefully and avoid stirring the pot by contacting the remaining members.
Here is a sermon on Being Friendly
Hi pastor
ReplyDeleteThere is someone on YouTube with your same name (sanderson1611) and your profile picture with no content on their channel that just replied to a comment saying "f--k you". This imposter is trying to damage your reputation obviously. It was in the comments section of your video "Hard Words in the KJV" in reply to another comment by BastardtheGreen that says "You're a piece of s--t". I just noticed more comments of his/hers.
God bless brother.
Hi pastor Anderson,
ReplyDeleteWhen you go to South Africa (God willing), please pack a bunch of your USB flash drives etc. I'm sure you have this in mind already because you're a wise and discerning man. I appreciate the love you have for the brethren and the lost. I'm praying for you and hoping for God to bless your (worldwide) ministry magnificently, in Jesus name Amen. My heart is truly broken for all the sheep without godly shepherds like you. Your documentary NWOBV taught me the power of prayer though- just in that snippet where William Tyndale prays for God to open the eyes of the king and truly God answered that prayer (I can't wait to meet Tyndale and King James I in heaven). Africa is dark spiritually. God bless you for your compassion. We need more of it!

Hey pastor Anderson,
ReplyDeleteI just discovered some other missionaries in Botswana in Gaborone. I was on pastor Matt Furse's website and scrolled down the missions page. Checked them out - The Johnsons (Robert and Myra). They seem ok, just a little iffy when it comes to their use of the word "repentance" which I'm hoping is just an innocent oversight on their part. They're Baptist and KJV only! This seems encouraging and I'm hoping that FWBC Botswana/Bro Garrett Kirchway can link up with them. I'm greatly encouraged to discover that they're in Botswana. Please check them. I'm deeply encouraged!

GOD BLESS.
Please pray for Myra Johnson (missionaries to Gaborone, Botswana) who has suffered SIX miscarriages and has no living children. I can't imagine the heartbreak. Just noticed that she had a sweet blog... http://www.safariforsouls.com/myra/one-more-in-heaven/
ReplyDeletePastor, at the end of this article you say to avoid voicing minor disagreements about the pastor and not to complain about the pastor to your family. Im a bit confused on this as I attend a pre-trib, dispensational pro israel church how ever i do not subscribe to those doctrines. is it still complaining if I have to show my family and young kids how the pastor is incorrect on this and show them the truth about dispensationalism, zionists, and the pre trib being incorrect? The church we attend is the best kjv, soulwinning church around and I do respect the pastor he is just bible college brainwashed and i get that. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Nathan! Teaching your children the truth about the rapture, dispensationalism, Israel, etc, is your right and your duty as a father. It should just be done in a respectful way. You just shouldn't go home and say, "The pastor is such an idiot! I can't believe he teaches this garbage!" etc. There is nothing wrong with gently correcting doctrine to your own family, but you just want to be careful not to tear down the pastor to them because then they won't be able enjoy and learn from his preaching anymore.
ReplyDeleteFunny, just discovered another set of missionaries in Botswana.
