5 Signs You are in the Right Church

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25

1. You are learning

A common complaint among churchgoers is that they feel like they are not being fed spiritually. If you are attending all three services at a church and feel like you aren’t learning anything, you should look for another church. Even just hearing the Bible read in church is powerful, but unfortunately, some pastors only read one “springboard” verse at the beginning of the sermon or preach only out of the New Testament. The more Bible in the sermon, the better, and the more you will learn.

2. The sermon is exactly what you needed

No, someone didn’t talk to the pastor ahead of time and tell him what your sins are or which trials you are going through. Sometimes the Lord lays something on a preacher’s heart at a time when you need it most. Spirit-filled preaching, where God speaks to you through his word, will often provide you with the assurance that you are in the right church.

3. You are making friends

Studies show that people who have friends in a church are more likely to stay in it for the long haul. I heard someone say that, “You are or will soon become who you hang around.” Having the right kind of friends will benefit you spiritually, and a good church is the place to find them.

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17

4. You are encouraged to go soul-winning

People who are not part of a church are highly unlikely to go soul-winning on a regular basis. The right church will provide organized soul-winning.

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30

5. Your pastor has enemies

“Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.” Luke 6:26

That’s great that your church has a five-star review on facebook or Yelp, but hopefully that just means the pastor isn’t well-known on the internet. These days, a pastor who takes a stand will have at least a few haters.

Here is a sermon to go along with this article.

  1. Guess I'm in the wrong church. I have none of those except #4 (okay sometimes #2 also but it's rare as my preacher loves salvation messages,) but it's still the best church in town.

Also I've learned it's incredibly difficult to go soul-winning alone for a first timer. I know the verses and how to present it, but when I tried I was so nervous to even start the conversation that it feel like I was going to vomit. Needless to say my first attempt was a complete failure.

    1. Tell yourself that you will probably never see that person again, and you will feel more bold. Yes, you are inviting them to church, but chances are, they won't show up.

  2. 1. Have the verses all memorized first, even as you will be pointing them out from the Bible to the person.

    2. Have the strait gate image in front of your mind alway. Less than 1% will be saved, so there will be a lot of "trial and error".

    3. Test yourself out online in the various forums you visit. Also, "mirror, mirror on the wall."

    4. Watch the soul-winning demos hundreds, yea, thousands of times.

    5. Don't pass up opportunities to win souls on your regular "commute".

  3. The church i am attending is into NAR charismatic word of faith movement hyper grace movement. The pastor is not teaching biblical principal. Winning soul is not in the activities. Should we stay or leave and find other church?
