Observations on Roger Jimenez's Resignation

  

"I want to be clear: I stepped down due to moral sin."

 

How is this clear? This is the opposite of clear since no one knows what "moral sin" is. There is no such thing as "moral sin." "Moral sin" is literally an oxymoron since sin isn't moral.

 

Here is one possibility for what this means: modern churches will sometimes refer to sexual sin as "immorality," and modern Bible versions replace the word "fornication" with "immorality" or "sexual immorality." Maybe "moral sin" means "sexual sin"? Why not just say that then?

"I have not committed adultery with another person."

The last 3 words here are totally unnecessary and awkward. Why not just say, "I have not committed adultery"? Did you commit adultery by yourself? If this were simply porn, wouldn't it be much simpler to just say "porn"?

 

Did you commit adultery with multiple women? "Persons" plural instead of "another person" meaning one other particular person?

 

I am not claiming to know the answers to these questions, and I am not accusing him of anything in particular. I am just pointing out the weirdness of his vague, meaningless statements.

"This was a voluntary resignation that I initiated."

 

There are 2 facts that prove that he was busted this week, and that he did not know this was going to happen this week. He was caught off guard.

1. His last sermon was called "The End of Jeroboam: When Trouble Exposes Your Idols." If his resignation were premeditated, this would not have been his last sermon. Who ends his 15 year ministry with a sermon called "The End of Jeroboam"? Jeroboam was the bad guy in the story who split the kingdom and taught false religion. The timing was an act of God, not planned by Jimenez.

 

2. He was scheduled to preach at a church in Fresno this Sunday (1/18/26). This was abruptly canceled at the last minute. Pozarnsky uploaded a video saying that they were "actively" working on scheduling a new date for Pastor Jimenez to preach in a few weeks’ time instead (which clearly was not true). If he had planned on resigning, he would have canceled this meeting sooner or never scheduled it in the first place. It was canceled last minute with BS about rescheduling "a few weeks" from now due to Jimenez being caught off guard.

 

"My wife and children plan to remain at Verity."

 

So, his wife and children will attend church, but he won't? Will he simply stay home? Will they attend two different churches? How does that work? Are they splitting up? "She can leave" claims another victim?

 

"The church trustees are following the guidelines of our church bylaws to find a new pastor."

 

My hope and prayer for Verity is that they get the best possible pastor who can right the ship and lead them to future greatness. Stedfast went through a horrible scandal and went on to become far greater than ever and do incredible works for God. Verity can do the same thing.

 

You stay great the way you became great. Verity needs to get back to their roots. They need to get back to being a hard preaching, NIFB church. That's what made them great. Over the last year and a half, they have been going a bad direction and have been in decline. If they continue down that road, they will continue on that same course of ruin. They need to do something different to fix the problem. Hopefully the right element at Verity will prevail, and we will see them restored to their former greatness.

Day 3 of Red Hot Preaching Conference 2017

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” James 1:22

Day 3 of the Red Hot Preaching Conference included more soul winning, an afternoon preaching service, lots of food and fellowship, and a youth activity. A record-breaking 217 people showed up to go soul-winning on Saturday morning. Before going out soul-winning, we heard a great short sermon by Matthew Stucky (assistant to Pastor Jimenez) on how we need more men to step up to the plate and do the work necessary to become a pastor.

The afternoon service began with a testimony from Brother Oliver Gonzales, another assistant at Verity Baptist church. Brother Oliver reminded everyone that churches bring forth after their own kind and highlighted the training opportunities available in churches in our movement as a biblical alternative to Bible college.

Pastor David Berzins helped round out the conference with his sermon on “Having Godly Standards in Your Life.” He decided that since we’d already been motivated and edified, he needed to rip some face on a variety of subjects including controversial ones. He preached on dress standards, working hard, the sin of drinking alcohol, the sin of divorce, submission in marriage, child rearing, and Bible reading. He admonished people to put the Word of God into practice, and he also emphasized the importance of establishing personal standards based on Bible principles. Brother Berzins always does a great job, and there was something in that sermon for everybody.

A lot of people are staying for Day 4 to hear Pastor Jimenez preach on Sunday morning. There will also be another soul-winning opportunity in the afternoon, and then “Men’s Popcorn Preaching” on Sunday night. The popcorn preaching night is a popular event where Pastor Jimenez draws names and gives ten men the opportunity to preach a short sermon. There’s a lot of talent in this movement, so the variety of good preaching should make for an exciting end to the conference.

I had a great time and wish I could have stayed longer, but I also look forward to getting back in time to preach in my own pulpit. There’s just something about being back in your own home church. Like Pastor Berzins said in his sermon, “If you aren’t plugged into a good church, you need to get plugged in.”

Day 2 of Red Hot Preaching Conference 2017

The movie theater was packed out for the Babylon USA showing in Sacramento on Friday morning, and my son Solomon and I enjoyed the time of fellowship with family and friends. Pastor Roger Jimenez preached a sermon before the film where he gave us some grave warnings about the way the next generation is being raised.

Since I wasn’t preaching the second night of the conference, I got to sit back and really enjoy the service. The place was packed out again with over 300 people. One of the songs sung in the service was “Holy, Holy, Holy,” which we enjoyed belting out in light of the recent attacks on the trinity.

The first speaker at the evening service was Brother Graham of Verity Baptist Church. Brother Graham strongly urged people to commute to a good church. He made a great point about the fact that driving an hour or two to church in an air-conditioned car isn’t much to ask considering the fact that Jesus died for us.

Next, Pastor Joe Major of Faith Baptist Church in Violet, Louisiana, preached a powerful, spirit-filled sermon where he encouraged us to “Be Numbered with Those Who go to War.” His sermon was on fire and is a must listen! I especially appreciated his emphasis on loyalty to the man of God, considering what I have gone through recently with heretics trying to split our church.

After such an intense sermon, Pastor Donnie Romero was the comic relief. He had us in stitches several times, but that did not take away from the gravity of his sermon. He preached on the valley of the dry bones in Ezekiel 37. He talked about how we don’t know exactly when or why those people died, just like we aren’t sure exactly when some of the old IFB churches died. He ripped on the old movement but left us feeling hopeful that some of the dead IFB churches will be revived in the next generation. It was an all around great sermon!

Raising the next generation for the Lord, moving or commuting to get in a good church, and the problems with the old IFB movement seem to be underlying themes of the conference so far. Brother Major is a dynamic speaker and was a great addition to the conference this year. Day 1 of Red Hot Preaching Conference 2017

The first night of the Red Hot Preaching Conference was an exciting time of preaching and fellowship. The place was packed out with 364 people. It’s always good to visit my home town of Sacramento, California, and I appreciate Pastor Jimenez providing me with the opportunity to preach there.

The first speaker was Brother Jared of Verity Baptist Church. He gave an inspiring and eloquent testimony about moving across the country to attend Verity. He told how he was in Sacramento for last year’s conference and then managed to move his family there just three months later. He made a powerful statement about the importance of making sure your family is in a good church: “Your decision making, whether you like it or not, will shape future generations.”

I preached a sermon entitled “Why they Hate Us,” where I talked about the fact that many IFB pastors actually hate me and other soul-winning preachers, and it’s not right. Someone will get saved after watching one of our documentaries and will find an IFB church in their area, only to get kicked out of the church for listening to my preaching!

I compared the way other independent fundamental Baptists treat people in our movement to the way Joseph’s brothers treated him. They see us coming with our coat of many colors, and they want to rip it off our backs. They hate us because we bring up their evil report. The story of Cain and Abel is yet another example of a wicked reaction to a brother’s godliness.

When we come across someone that is more righteous than we are, we can either have a wicked spirit of envy and hatred, or we can praise God for what they are accomplishing. When I see another church excelling in an area, I don’t get angry about it or discount it because they happen to be pre-trib. I instead ask myself what I can learn from them.

We need to remember that we aren’t against our pre-trib brethren. Our differences are no excuse for hating brothers in Christ. I would love nothing more than for some pre-trib, Zionist church to outdo us on soul-winning. We love our fundamental Baptist brethren, and we love lost souls. We are not in competition with other churches like they seem to be with us.

As soul-winning Baptists, we are all on the same team. We need to follow Joseph’s example and Christ’s commandment to do good to those that hate us. Regardless of how other IFBs treat us, we need to be like Joseph and just try to save people alive.

Coptic Orthodox Confusion

Bishoy Abdelshaid, an aggressive protestor of Verity Baptist Church, told the Sacramento Bee that he is a Member of St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church. He is protesting because of a sermon Pastor Jimenez preached against the homos after the Orlando shooting.

Although his specific “Sacramento diocese” located in Roseville, California, does not provide a detailed statement of faith on their website, they are part of the Coptic Orthodox church that follows a pope in Egypt, so a consistency in doctrine would be expected. A priest of another Coptic Orthodox location in the Bay Area stated that “homosexuals will not repent of their sins.” Further down the page this statement is contradicted when they are told to repent. This confusing information can be found on a website called religioustolerance.org. Interestingly, even the Coptic Orthodox Church hints at the reprobate doctrine.

Perhaps the question of whether or not all Sodomites are reprobates is just as controversial in Orthodox churches as it is among Baptists. Either way, they know it is a sin, they know it is unnatural, they acknowledge that the people of Sodom and Gomorrah were homos, and they acknowledge that the death penalty was put on Sodomy in the book of Leviticus. So what is Bishoy so upset about unless he himself is a Sodomite? Maybe someone should tell him that his own religion condemns him. That freak is going to hell in every religion!

Solving the Dilemma

Even blinded unbelievers usually know instinctively that practicing homos are not saved, which presents a dilemma. They either have to believe that Sodomites must repent of that sin before getting saved, that they will automatically change after salvation, or that they are reprobates and it is too late for them. I obviously believe the latter since salvation is a free gift and not of works. Here is a sermon where I lay out the reprobate doctrine in more detail.

I realize that there are “gay” churches, but obviously those are run by reprobates themselves. Even before I came to the conclusion that being a Sodomite is a symptom of being a reprobate (see Romans 1), I knew that practicing homos were not saved. Any idiot knows that.

Regardless of what they actually believe about Sodomites, Coptic Orthodox churches are completely apostate because they teach a hardcore works salvation. If Bishoy Abdelshaid is an example of their typical member, I shudder to think what goes on in St. Mary’s children’s ministries. Not only was Bishoy seen on Twitter posing in a tutu, but in 2013, he re-tweeted a filthy post promoting pedophilia on a three-month old baby! Please pray that this wicked pervert is stopped before he hurts innocent children.

Day 4 of the Red Hot Preaching Conference

“I do love my neighbor, that’s why I preach against the homos!” –Pastor Roger Jimenez

Pastor Jimenez was on fire on Sunday! His sermon was based on the fact that what you love will determine what you hate. The springboard verse was Hebrews 1:9, and the title of his sermon was “Love Hates.” The media was there, and Pastor Jimenez preached to them directly at times.

“Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” Hebrews 1:9

He did a great job explaining that if you love something, then you will have to hate something else. For example, if you love children, then you’ll hate pedophiles. If you love unborn children, you’ll hate abortion.

At one point he told Dusty Arnold, a homo who calls himself a reverend, to take his little rainbow tie and do us all a favor and go hang himself! Amen! These protestors are all enemies of God, and they want to corrupt innocent children. If you love your children, then you ought to hate the Sodomites who would harm them.

“Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:” 2 Peter 2:14

Pastor Jimenez preached hard against sin and explained why we hate certain things. It was great when he addressed the children specifically, warning them to flee fornication and to never touch alcohol. Kids need to hear more of this kind of preaching in today’s pulpits, but unfortunately, men like Pastor Jimenez are few and far between.

What preaching conference would be complete without a man of God naming the names of the wicked TV shows of today that no Christian should be watching? It was a long list, and Duck Dynasty was included right along with some very filthy shows. AMEN! Those stupid rednecks are part of the “Church of Christ” cult, and I’m tired of Christians praising them.

There was another great rant about the false prophets and liberal preachers of our day who Jimenez called out by name.

“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” Romans 16:17-18

There were several baptisms on Sunday morning, and churchgoers were so excited about the preaching and fellowship, they almost didn’t notice the news cameras and protestors. Pastor Jimenez sermon was the perfect grand finale for the last day of the conference.

Sunday night, ten conference goers got a chance to preach, and I’m told that those guys did a great job! I am amazed and humbled at the number of talented, up-and-coming preachers there are in this movement! God willing, these guys will stick with it, and in several years, they will be scattered all over America and the world doing great exploits and seeing many thousands saved!

Day 3 of the Red Hot Preaching Conference

On Saturday, we had 195 people out soul winning! This is an all-time record for any of the soul-winning marathons I have ever been a part of. This more extreme IFB movement is starting to spread like wildfire, and people are not only listening to the preaching, but they are participating!

“And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” Acts 2:46-47

We had a full house again for the Saturday preaching service, and Pastor Logan Robertson preached a short sermon on “How to be Filled with the Spirit.” He preached hard against drinking and didn’t hold anything back when he called out Youtubers, Afshin and Marshall, for their bizarre teaching on alcohol. Not only that, but hearing Pastor Robertson say fag and queer in his New Zealand accent was classic. One of the many great points in the sermon was a reminder of what a serious sin covetousness is. Listening to this man preach was a rare treat since his sermons are not yet available online.

Pastor Dave Berzins preached a dynamic sermon from Matthew 23 on not being a Pharisee. Even the reading of the text at the beginning of the sermon was powerful. Pastor Berzins talked about how as Christians, and especially as pastors, we need to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. We need to avoid hypocrisy and keep practicing what we preach. We need to do things for the Lord as opposed to doing them for the praise of men. He gave us a strong warning about pride and boasting that was an important reminder for all.

“But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 10:16

Later in the evening, the teenagers had a fun time playing laser tag and the fellowship continued afterward at the church building. I am also told that there was a singles dinner going on at the same time. Attending events such as preaching conferences and soul-winning marathons is a great way to meet like-minded believers. A sweet spirit of fellowship is one of the many strong suits of this growing movement.

“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Acts 2:42

1st Night of Red Hot Preaching Conference

The first night of the Red Hot Preaching Conference in Sacramento was an exciting time of fellowship and preaching. As we arrived, I noticed about six protestors, a couple of local TV stations, and a reporter from the Sacramento Bee, which is the main newspaper there. I gave the Bee reporter a piece of my mind when I was approached before the service since they have repeatedly published lies about Verity’s attendance. It was great to see old friends as well as some new faces.

We got to hear Brother Al Chiappetta give his testimony about how he ended up at Verity Baptist Church. He told us that he used to go to a “lame church,” and was encouraged to do more by like-minded believers, which helped get him more “fired up” about soul winning. This led to him making about a four hour round trip for two years straight from the Bay Area to Sacramento to attend Verity. He is now very thankful to live in Sacramento just minutes from the church.

I preached a sermon on "The Signs of the Times" where I started out talking about how we are moving toward a one-world government and cashless society and how people in this generation are lovers of themselves. There were a few serious rants where I preached directly at the media, and the reporters ended up walking out of the sermon before it was over.

I confronted an effeminate-looking protestor after the service, and I rebuked him with a few verses. This was filmed by the BBC reporter who has been following me for several weeks for an upcoming documentary. All in all, it was a great night, and I’m looking forward to the soul winning and preaching services that are still to come. If at all possible, I hope even more of you can join us tonight for more hard preaching.

3 Reasons to Attend the Red Hot Preaching Conference

Verity’s Red Hot Preaching Conference is fast approaching. Join us Thursday, July 28th, through Sunday, July 31st, in Sacramento, California, at Verity Baptist Church. I hope that you will start planning now to make it to this historic event and attend one or more of the services. The Zero Church

"So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do." - Luke 17:10

If you are going to the best church in your area, and it’s not feasible for you to move, then that’s understandable…but some of you are intentionally settling for a “zero church.” You might assume that a zero church means a church that does nothing for the Lord, but what I mean by a zero church is one that does the bare minimum.

“Pastor Zero” might read from the King James Bible, but he’s not King James only. He might say he is King James only, but he studies commentaries by authors that use other versions. He might have a soul-winning program, but a church member had to push him to start it--or perhaps he had to be asked to reform his tracts or website to reflect the correct plan of salvation. He might preach the right doctrine, but his guest speakers don’t. He might tell his people to win souls, but he doesn’t teach by example.

Sometimes to avoid persecution, people decide to settle for one of these more watered-down churches. Consider the story in Numbers 32 where Reuben and Gad decided they were content to settle outside the promised land. They still ended up being required to fight the battle, just with a lesser result in the end. God can still put trials in your life even if you don’t go to a church that is on the front lines in the spiritual battle.

“Yea, and ALL that live godly shall suffer persecution.” 2 Timothy 3:12

If you have no choice but to settle for a zero church, you should do your best to bloom where you are planted. Whether you are in a good church or a mediocre one, don’t be a zero Christian. Realize that when you do the minimum, you are at zero.

Go to church more than just on Sunday mornings. Read more than one Bible verse a day. Pray more. Go soul winning more than you’ve done in the past. Love your enemies--not just the people that love you. Don’t ever get to the point where you feel like you have arrived.

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

A zero Christian is not someone who does nothing. It’s someone who does the minimum.

Open Letter to the Person Protesting Verity Baptist Church

If you are hoping for me to name your name in this post so you’ll have something to brag about to your Sodomite friends, you will be disappointed. At this point, there’s no need to use our internet presence to give you any notoriety. It’s not the Christians that are interested in slandering and defaming people, but you and your friends. You won’t see us holding up signs down at the homo-friendly Methodist and Unitarian churches. We won’t photograph you or take down your license plate numbers. We are too busy raising our children and serving the Lord, and we don’t go looking for trouble.

We don’t have a lot of time to spend worrying about some burned out old queer bait with nothing better to do than try to recruit a gang of rejects to heckle people walking in and out of a church. You’re the one that is obsessed. We won’t be posting your name publicly, but you, an enemy of the Lord’s work, are on a lot of our prayer lists—and not in a good way.

It's laughable how many comments I’ve seen where people have threatened to get Pastor Jimenez fired for preaching on unpopular passages in the Bible. Independent Baptists are not part of a Baptist denomination such as the Southern Baptist Convention or the American Baptists. We are sent out by other independent Baptist churches, and each church is autonomous. The pastor is the leader of a biblical, New Testament Baptist church.

That said, a Baptist church is not a cult. People in these churches have minds of their own, so one of these days, you might mess with the wrong person. Harassing people you don’t know can be dangerous. Verity’s members probably don’t take kindly to a bunch of filthy faggots and bull-dykes stalking them week after week and photographing their children. More dangerous than pissing off some veteran with PTSD or tangling with someone in a prominent family, is inviting the wrath of God himself.

“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:31

You say in your comments that you aren’t a homosexual. If that’s the case, perhaps you have not yet been turned over to a reprobate mind and can still get saved. After all, Saul, who later became Paul, persecuted the church before his conversion. If that is the case, I pray that you will get saved before it is eternally too late.

“And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.” Acts 7:58-60

Somehow, I doubt that you are the next Apostle Paul, but if it is still possible for you to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, then let not this sin be laid to your charge. Maybe, since you keep listening to Pastor Jimenez’ sermons, something will sink in.

Whether you have a change of heart, encounter legal problems or drop dead, there are a lot of Christians praying that you will be stopped. I wouldn’t want to be in your shoes right now.

A Time to Hate

If the only Sodomites you see are on the “hell-e-vision,” then you will gradually become softer on them. TV is not real, friend. Many Christians, if they are honest with themselves, would probably have to say that they were somewhat indifferent to what happened in Orlando. Well, having no love for the Sodomites is a start. I mean, good night, I would hope that most fundamental Baptists weren’t mourning a bunch of perverts carousing in a “gay” bar.

But now, persecution has come. The homos have come after us with their protests and other persecution, but it isn’t working. They think they will cause people to become more tolerant, but being confronted by protestors week after week has the opposite effect. It only makes the people at these churches angrier.

For those who have only seen the protests via the news clips, you are only seeing a part of what goes on. The media will show you the “Love Conquers Hate” signs, but they won’t show you the signs that say things like, “WE’RE GOING TO RAPE YOUR SISTERS AND MOTHERS.” Yes, that was an actual sign that was held up here at Faithful Word Baptist Church. Signs seen at Verity Baptist Church on Sunday morning mocked the Lord Jesus Christ, and on Sunday evening at Verity, a sign calling Pastor Jimenez an obscene name was shown to children as they made their way to their cars with their parents.

The protestors aren’t silent either - they mock people who are trying to ignore them. Calling godly ladies whores and tramps and making fun of an older man’s gray hair are a couple examples of the heckling that goes on as people make their way out of the building. This type of behavior only serves to get church members even more fired up about being faithful to church and doing more soul winning.

Yes, there are occasional casualties because this is a war. We are fighting a spiritual warfare, and I encourage you to stay in the battle. When someone leaves your church amidst persecution, why don’t you just take that person’s place by becoming more involved?

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12

I’ve seen posts on facebook where the Sodomites are discussing which type of protest signs are more “effective.” I’m not sure how they think they can quantify this since we have not backed down. The Bible is still being preached, and the faithful keep showing up for church and soul winning. Perhaps by effective, they mean that the more peaceful sounding slogans make for better propaganda. No matter what the signs say, just having these freaks show up at our churches is very effective, but not in the way they intend. It is effective in waking up complacent Christians by turning their indifference into hate.

"A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace." Ecclesiastes 3:8

Three Reasons Why People Quit on the Man of God

 As you already know, Pastor Roger Jimenez has gotten negative attention from the media regarding his sermon on the Orlando shooting. When the Sodomites and their sympathizers scheduled protests at the church, Verity’s attendance was stronger than ever, but what you may not have noticed is that not all of Verity’s regular attenders showed up. Not only that, but some have said that they won’t be coming back. Why did a few people decide to leave Verity over this? Did they disagree with the sermon when it was preached in its entirety on that fateful Sunday night? No. In fact, they enjoyed every minute of it.

What these fair weather friends did not like were the consequences of the stand their pastor took. They loved his boldness until they heard the reaction of the liberal media, the homosexual community and perhaps some of their namby-pamby friends. Sadly, a few of Verity’s active members bailed on the man of God at a time when he needed them most. There are a few main reasons why people quit during times when their pastor is particularly unpopular with the world.

Money

The love of money is the root of all evil, so it’s not surprising that the first reasons people cite for not staying faithful to church during a controversy is that they are worried about losing their jobs. They need to reread these famous verses in Matthew 6:

“24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Fear

Fear is definitely a factor when people faint in the day of adversity, but it’s not just the fear of losing their jobs. Often, people will shelter their children to the point of selfishness. When conflicts arise, we still want our kids to come to church with us. They need to be in church, and we want them to see us taking a stand against these freaks. Yes, we will arm ourselves and be ready to protect our families, but we will also trust the Lord to protect us.

“The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.” Proverbs 21:31

Worldly Viewpoint

Some of the same people who are quick to condemn others as worldly for not having the exact same personal standards that they have, are by definition worldly themselves.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2:15-16

Prioritizing money and the praise of men over supporting the man of God is extremely worldly. Not only is it worldly to lust after earthly riches, but worldly Christians are surprisingly susceptible to being brainwashed by the media, with its falsified numbers and chopped up interviews.

Hopefully, these few deserters will have a change of heart when they see how quickly this thing blows over. Verity had a record breaking turnout on Sunday in spite of those few flakes not showing up, but their absence was still disappointing. Even as Verity Baptist Church continues to grow and thrive, the shepherd will still mourn the loss of a few of his sheep.
