Sam Gipp's Zombie Apocalypse
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
This is a pretty straightforward passage about the dead in Christ rising first that I assumed all Baptists agreed on, but I came across these sermons where Sam Gipp is teaching that there is a 40 day gap between verse 16 and 17. Yes, that’s right—he is teaching yet another “gap theory.”
Gipp’s zombie apocalypse theory in no way jibes with the secret, pre-tribulation rapture, which is what most mainstream Baptist churches teach. Obviously, people are going to notice if every believer who ever lived rose from the dead and walked the earth for 40 days! Wouldn't that serve as a warning that the end is near and even make it possible to predict the day?
Actually, Gipp, the warning is when we see the Abomination of Desolation sitting in the temple, but that’s a whole other argument that is not within the scope of this article. What I’d like to know is how in the world the “twinkling of an eye” takes 40 days!?
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” - 1 Corinthians 15:52
When Keith Gomez picked Sam Gipp to defend the pre-trib rapture, he picked the wrong guy. Whether you are pre-trib or post-trib, Gipp should lose credibility with everyone with his rapture gap theory. The resurrection/rapture happens in a moment, Sam Gipp, not over the course of 40 days!
What blows my mind is that Sam Gipp can teach this kind of bizarre teaching about the rapture, and no one even bats an eye, whereas if someone says that the rapture is after the tribulation but before God pours out his wrath, everyone loses their minds. As long as you don't go after the pre-trib rapture, you can pretty much get away with teaching ANYTHING about Bible prophecy in today's independent Baptist churches, and no one will even care.
Here is the link to watch "After the Tribulation" and learn the truth.
