It is not only the verse from 2 Thessalonians 2,(which I do not believe to be vague in the least,) but also, there is ample Old Testament Prophecy to support the pre-Tribulation rapture. Namely, the Prophetic feasts outlined in Leviticus 23: 23-24, and then further detailed in Numbers 29:1-7.

The fact that Jesus Christ fulfilled the spring feasts perfectly - on the exact same day of the month as their original commemoration, we can take joy in the fact that the three remaining fall feasts will be fulfilled in the exact same precision.

The seven feasts from Leviticus 23 were outlined in this order:

Passover - fulfilled in the Crucifixion of Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God

Unleavened Bread - fulfilled in the three days that Jesus, the Sinless Bread of Life spent in the tomb

First Fruits - Fulfilled by Jesus, the firstfruits, rising from the dead and ascending to the Father

Pentecost - fulfilled by the Holy Spirit descending and fulfilling the hearts of believers

Trumpets - will be fulfilled when Jesus Christ "catches away," or raptures the saved church

Atonement - will be fulfilled in the Tribulation

Tabernacles - will be fulfilled in the Millennial Reign of Christ

If these Feasts were not ordered in this fashion, there would be room for doubt. The fact that while here on earth, the Savior made repeated references in agricultural themes, indicates that the entire church age has been in the "summer," period, between the spring and fall feasts. We have been "working in the fields," until such time as Israel is positioned for the fulfillment. There is a three day break between the Feast of Trumpets and the Feast of Atonement - they are not contiguous like Passover and Unleavened bread are.

A very scholarly study of this subject can be found in Dr. Grady S. McMurtry's excellent work titled -

Scofield withstanding - it is the re-birth of Israel in 1948 that is more than significant than anything. Even 100 years ago - such an idea was not even conceivable. The idea was so fantastic, that theologians erroneously concluded that the Lord was finished with Israel.

Hardly. Israel is the time-clock for all future events. In every instance wherein we put the church in place of Israel in Scripture - it is confusion.
