It's good to see fathers out there like you that invest in their daughters!

Delightful photos all. I just watched the Christian film "Courageous" and so your post was especially meaningful--if only more dads were like you and may they be inspired by your example! I'm a big fan of Starbucks' iced lemon loaf, too, so stand in good company with you and Miriam. May you enjoy many, many more such dates together!

Let me preface my comments by saying I am not trying to be critical, just give some food for thought. I was really challenged by a message my Pastor preached a couple of years ago and just wanted to share. I noticed that Zsuasanna commented that her favorite blog post so far was, "what a lucky little girl". As a Christian, I think we all use that word luck without stopping to think about what we are saying. If we believe in a soverign God, then there can be no such thing as luck. Colosians 1:17 says that He is before all things and by Him all things consist. Miriam didn't luck into having a daddy who loves her enough to take her out and spend some time with her on her special day. It was through the divine planning of a good and gracious God.

I think that Christians sometimes use that word without stopping to think about the meaning. We ought to believe in a soverign God. Therefore there can be no such thing as luck becasue as Colosians 1:17 says, "He is before all things and by Him all things consist."
Miriam didn't luck into having a daddy that loves her and is willing to take her out, spend time one on one, and spoil her. It was through the divine planning of a good and gracious God that she received the parents she did.

Stephen Tweddell, Whenever anyone says that God is "sovereign," they are usually teaching the false doctrines of Calvinism and TULIP. I reject them completely.

"Sovereign" in the KJV Bible = 0 mentions

"Sovereign" in the NIV Bible = 297 mentions

No, I do not believe that God divinely plans every little event of our life. I believe in time, chance, and free will.
